Mo’ Betta to perform at Club 10

EL DORADO — the duo Mo’ Betta, a group that has been performing in the Texarkana and North Louisiana area, will make their Club 10 debut from 8 to midnight on Friday, Sept. 23. Club 10 offers dancing in a smoke free environmen­t. Cover is $7 for American Legion members and guests.

Union County Junior Livestock Sale

EL DORADO — This year the El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce will recognize and support 50 4-H or FFA youth through the Union County Junior Livestock sale.

Anyone interested in supporting directly is encouraged to come to the Fairground­s, enjoy lunch and get a buyer number to bid in the public auction and support the youth they choose.

The auctioneer will be State Sen. Bruce Malloch of Magnolia. The youth will be prepared to welcome them and visit with any buyer about their project animal and their 4-H or FFA experience at 11 a.m.

Any business or individual that would like to support, but cannot attend the sale, is encouraged to call or come by the Union County Extension office at 307 American Rd. in El Dorado to get more informatio­n or make a donation of any size that will be used to support the youth.

The Chamber of Commerce pools any non-designated donations and share those equally to youth who may not have strong support on Sale day. All donations go to the youth and all supporters are recognized for their generosity. The Chamber submits all supporters names or businesses in the local paper and the youth send thank you letters to their supporters.

First Financial Bank will provide a great hamburger lunch for supporters and livestock families on the day of the sale. The luncheon will be start 11: 30 a.m. and the sale will begin around noon tomorrow at the Union County Fairground­s. For more informatio­n, call the extension office at 870-864-1916.

Smackover-Norphlet Band Booster Club Meeting Reschedule­d

SMACKOVER —The Band Booster Club meeting has been postponed to September 27th at 6:00 pm in the Smackover High School Band Hall. All beginner, Junior and Senior High Band parents are encouraged to attend.

Red Shield Diner seeks volunteers

EL DORADO — The Murphy Red Shield Diner at the Salvation Army is in need of volunteers to help prepare and/or serve lunch and dinner next week. If your church group, organizati­on or business would like to help, please contact Judith at 870-863-4830.

Organizati­on Hosting Tax Deductions Class

EL DORADO — A business tax expert will teach a “Tax Deductions for Small Business Owners and Landlords” class, hosted by the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Developmen­t Center.

The class is dedicated to people who like being their own boss but hate the record-keeping struggle. The tax expert would highlight several deductible business expenses and answer questions about income tax for small businesses or real estate properties.

“Tax Deductions for Small Business Owners and Landlords” is scheduled for 12 p.m. Wednesday at South Arkansas Community College’s East Campus.
