EL DORADO - El Dorado scored the game’s first 21 points and never looked back en route to a 35-14 win over Texarkana in freshman football at Memorial Stadium on Thursday night.

The Wildcats opened the scoring just 64 seconds into the contest on a touchdown run by Carmerius Rucks and Greyson Hubbard drilled the first of his five extra points in the contest.

The Wildcats led 21-6 at intermission, and Texarkana pulled to within a touchdown late in the third period, but that would be as close as they would get.

Hicks added a rushing touchdown with 30 seconds left in the third period before connecting with Ethan McCuistion on a strike that capped the scoring in the contest. BARTON 8TH-GRADE 20, TEXARKANA 18

EL DORADO - Barton’s defense stopped a potential game-tying two-point conversion in the final minute of regulation to help preserve a home victory.

In the second period, Hartsfield scored on a 15-yard run and also carried in the two-point conversion to extend the lead to 14-0.

Leading by the same margin after three periods, Cook scored on a 25-yard run to make it 20-12.

Texarkana scored late in the game, but the aforementioned stop by Barton’s defense on the two-point conversion sealed the victory.
