Civil Service Commission certifies results
Five candidates eligible for hire for city police, fire departments
EL DORADO — The El Dorado Civil Service Commission certified Wednesday test results for a total of five entry-level candidates for the city’s police and fire departments.
Exams were administered earlier this week during the ECSC’s fall testing cycle, which got under way on Oct. 15 with physical agility and oral interviews for potential new-hires with the El Dorado Fire Department.
The testing cycle continued on Monday with written exams, which were followed up on Tuesday with physical fitness assessments and oral interviews for El Dorado Police Department candidates who scored at least 70 percent on the written test.
Fire Chief Chad Mosby said that of seven candidates took entry-level exams for the fire department, three successfully completed all three phases.
They were William Plumb, 1, Matthew Peace, 2, and Patrick Abeyta, 3.
Two candidates are eligible for hire with the police department. Howard Couvillon, 1, and Connor Kelly, 2, qualified out of eight candidates who took the exam.
Mosby and Police Chief Billy White each said they have one position available for uniformed personnel. Mosby said he anticipates another opening within his department in February, pending an upcoming retirement.
Candidates who ranked first in the test results will be given top consideration for the available positions.
The other candidates will be added to each department’s employee eligibility lists. The certifications will be good for a year.
