Habitat for Humanity sets groundbreaking ceremony
EL DORADO — El Dorado Habitat for Humanity will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 2 p.m. on Monday at the 500 block of East Second Street, according to Sue Ellen Dillard, executive director of El Dorado Habitat for Humanity. Everyone is invited to attend.
"This will be the site of our 41st Habitat for Humanity build in our community. This will be our second build on property which was generously donated by the Reynolds family.
El Dorado Habitat for Humanity will eventually build three additional homes on this property," she said.
"Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, El Dorado Habitat for Humanity organized in 1988 as the first Arkansas affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in nearly 1,400 communities throughout the U.S. and in nearly 70 countries. There are now 16 Habitat affiliates at work in Arkansas," Dillard said.
Families and individuals in need of a "hand up" partner with Habitat to "build a place they can call home."
Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can "help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build a better life for themselves. Through decent, affordable housing we empower all in our community," she said.
