EL DORADO — The 60th annual El Dorado Civitan TV Auction raised $16,595 on Monday at Immanuel Baptist Church. Two-thirds of the proceeds were donated to the South Arkansas Developmental Center for Children and Families. The other portion will stay with the Civitan club to fund community projects, said Mike Dumas, chairman of the auction.

There were over 140 items that sold during the auction, including gift certificates, flowers, jewelry, contracts for pest control and furniture. The items were sold to the highest bidder.

“This year some big ticket items, like concrete and gravel, will go for the full retail value,” Dumas said. “But overall, items sold for 57 percent of retail value.”

Auction gold sponsors were First Financial Bank, Young’s Funeral Directors of Distinction and Les Chandler Agency. Blue sponsor was Evers Cox and Gober CPA. White sponsors were Teague Auto Group and Southern Bancorp Bank.

“Thanks to our sponsors and our merchants because without them, there would not be anything to auction,” Dumas said. “Thanks to our viewers for tuning in and bidding on items.”

The auction is a lot of fun for the club members, but is also a lot of work, Dumas said.
