Debutantes introduced

El Dorado — Young ladies and gentlemen were presented to society at The Debutante and Gentleman Associatio­n of El Dorado’s Annual Gala Event on Saturday at the Tac House on North West Avenue.

Three young women with their escorts were presented and celebrated by their families and peers at the event.

The theme was “Heirs of Royalty, Walking in Purpose” and was emceed by Minister Mary Davis. The room was decorated in red, black and white decor and all eyes were on the debutantes at the event.

The room was first introduced to the five future debutantes, Jah’Leah William, Alyse Moore, Breanna Kilgore, Trinity Caver and Tomijah Smith along with their seven young gentleman, Brison Brown, Bretaveon Brown, Ellis Lyles, ALex Xmith Farano Walter, Jeremy Boone and Noah Pierce.

Future debutantes range in age from 3 all the way to a girl’s junior year of high school. These girls and young men have dedicated their life to following the Christian values that their parents have instilled in them with grace and poise.

After the future debutantes and young gentlemen, the three debutantes were escorted in by their fathers and the gentlemen escorted in the debutante’s mothers.

After both couples had made it to the floor, the mother presented the daughter with a set of pearls and fixed her hair and train. The gentleman bows to the father before taking the daughter’s hand and escorting her to the debutante’s

table at the head of the room.

The debutantes are all in their senior year of high school. They plan to attend college and take the lessons that their parents taught them into adulthood. The debutantes for this year are Chelsey Brown, Elsie Lyles and Kaylah Morgan. The gentlemen who escorted Ramon Jackson, Fredrick Jackson III and Devin Stringfell­ow.

Minister Kathey Walker recited the verse John 3:16 with music accompanim­ent and Benny Williams presented a praise dance to the song “Best in Me” while the attendees were served a dinner of chicken and dressing, green beans, corn and a roll.

Afterwards Mr. Curtis Lewis of Arkansas Community Correction in Magnolia gave a brief word of encouragem­ent. He quoted 1 Corinthian­s 13:11, “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me”, and reminded the young adults that the would soon leave their parent’s home and start on their own paths.

He also reminded them to keep God in their sight and follow him and everything will work out.

After dinner the associatio­n recognized all participan­ts with a trophy as well as numerous guests.

The evening ended with a waltz that started between the debutantes and their fathers, who was replaced by the girl’s escort. They the young ladies ended the dance with the escort. After that the future debutantes and young gentlemen took a turn on the dance floor before the closing remarks, which was given by the director of the Debutantes associatio­n, Mary Walker.
