El Dorado resident inducted into Lambda Pi Eta society
LITTLE ROCK — Shakeba Stanley of El Dorado, was among 17 University of Arkansas at Little Rock students to be inducted into the Kappa Upsilon chapter of Lambda Pi Eta.
Lambda Pi Eta is the National Communication Association’s official honor society and has more than 550 active chapters at four-year colleges and universities worldwide.
Students from the UA Little Rock Department of Applied Communication were chosen for membership based on the requirements of maintaining at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA with 60 semesters or 90 quarter credit hours completed and a 3.25 GPA for communication studies courses with 12 semester or 18 quarter credit hours completed.
On Feb. 16, UA Little Rock students celebrated their induction into Lambda Pi Eta with instructors, family and friends.
To maintain the upstanding quality of Lambda Pi Eta, UA Little Rock students will complete academic and community service projects.
“Our department puts heavy emphasis on partnering with a variety of community organizations and agencies to facilitate service-based learning outcomes,” said April Chatham-Carpenter, professor and department chair of the UA Little Rock Department of Applied Communication.
With about 11,000 students and 100 programs, UA Little Rock offers learning, research, service, social and career opportunities that can only be found at a metropolitan university located in Arkansas’ capital city.
