Lady Bucks crush Monticello

MONTICELLO Sophomore Abby Crawford drove in seven runs Monday to power Smackover to a 14-4 victory over Monticello. The Lady Bucks improved to 14-2 overall and 7-0 in league play.

Crawford went 5-for-5 at the plate, including a tworun home run in the sixth inning.

Ashley Haynes was the winning pitcher, surrenderi­ng four runs on eight hits with three strikeouts, a walk and one hit batter in 4 2/3 innings.

Smackover led 5-4 with two on and two out in the bottom of the fifth before Mallory Brewer relieved Haynes and got the final out. Brewer earned a save, pitching 2 1/3 innings, giving up one hit and a walk with two strikeouts.

“Ashley pitched a tremendous game. She pitched very good,” said Smackover coach Dennis Steele. “And, Abby Crawford had a dream hitting day. She drove in seven runs. That could be close to a record.”

The Lady Billies scored two in the second on a two-run homer by Emilee Lawson.

But, Smackover answered with five in the third and two in the fourth. Leading 7-4, the Lady Bucks pulled away. After Crawford’s two-run blast in the sixth, they pushed across five more runs in the top of the seventh.

Reagan Richardson was 3-for-5 with two RBI. Tessa Watson was 3-for-4. Sabrina Estridge was 2-for-4 with a RBI and Karli Goocher was 2-for-4.

Smackover travels to Crossett today before hosting McGhee in a makeup game on Wednesday, beginning at 4:30 p.m. in Smackover.

abbreviate­d perfect game, recording eight of her nine outs via strikeouts.

Kenlee McAuliffe belted a tworun inside-the-park home run down the right-field line in the second for the Lady Trojans.

Phelps helped her own cause by going 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.

Savannah Jones was 2-for-2 with a double and a triple, while Bailey Norwood added a double and Savannah Slaughter added a double and an RBI. Game 2 Parkers Chapel 17, Lafayette County 0 PARKERS CHAPEL - The Lady Trojans (9-3) capped their sweep with a second straight win via mercy rule.

Phelps threw her second straight perfect game, finishing with seven strikeouts.

The Lady Trojans also got their second straight insidethe-park home run, as Kaylin Waller crushed a three-run shot to right-center in the opening inning.

McAuliffe went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs, while Norwood went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs and Phelps finished 2-for-2 with a double.

Parkers Chapel travels to Spring Hill today for a key league matchup.
