Lewis “Lou” Brown, 49, of Hot Springs, died Saturday, April 1, 2017.

He was born on Dec. 16,

1967 in El Dorado. He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie

Snuggs Brown and his mother, Jeannie Beavert. Lou was of the Church of Christ faith.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Brown of Hot Springs; his daughter, Shelby Brown of Russellvil­le; his sister, Ellen Clark of Hot Springs; his step-father, Jack Beavert of Nashville; and his step-mother, Belinda Brown of El Dorado.

Cremation arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

RITA K. GRIFFITH

Rita Kay Brantley Griffith, 62, of Junction City, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at her home in Junction City.

Rita was born

August 2, 1954 in Spearsvill­e,

LA to the union of Varner Brantley and

Rosa Howell Brantley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Howard Gene Brantley.

Rita was a member of Mt. Union Baptist Church, and was an employee of Chemtura for over 20 years.

She loved to paint, garden and spend time at the beach. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmothe­r.

Survivors include her three daughters, Robin Thomas of Ruston, LA, Shannon Brantley and husband David of Benton, LA, and Michele Griffith and fianc Chris Armand of Junction City, AR, three sisters, Linda Atkinson of El Dorado,AR, Diana Dove and husband Douglass, and Barbara Daniels, both of Junction City, AR, one brother, Kent Brantley and wife Patricia of Junction City, AR, three grandchild­ren, Ella Rose Thomas, Aidyn Brantley, and Emery Brantley, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Bailey Funeral Home, Junction City.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Mt. Union Baptist Church with Bro. Tyler Brantley officiatin­g. Interment will be in the Beech Grove Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Junction City, AR.

DAVID P. SMITH

David Paron Smith, 37, of Fordyce, passed into eternal life on Friday, March 31, 2017.

He was born in Warren,

Smith.

He began his life in Newton

Falls, Ohio, moving to Strong when he was 8 years old. David attended school in the Strong Schools until his 11th year, when he elected to attend and graduate from Camp Robinson Military Academy where he earned the U.S. President’s Physical Fitness award which was presented to him by Janet Huckabee.

David shadowed his father’s footsteps anytime they could “kick around” in the shop where he began his passion for working with metal. At the age of 11, he talked his honorary “Papaw” Donald Ray Smith into allowing him to work around the shop at Pipe Systems Inc., where he worked and learned the technical skills behind his “art.” David was a master fabricator and welder at Arkansas Gravel in Hampton by day and a metal artist by night.

David will be welcomed in Glory by the family that precedes him including his paternal grandparen­ts, Bobby and Martha “Tinsy” Smith; maternal grandparen­ts, Donald and Barbara Jean Godfrey; and his aunt, Kimberly Ford Smith.

Along with his parents, David’s memories will be cherished forever by his daughter, Dani Laine Smith, born to him and Morgan Bumgardner on Jan. 19, 2017; his brothers, Shane of Lawson and Ernest of El Dorado; his sisters, Shannon Washington of El Dorado and Shelley (Jon) Busch of Benton; his special honorary family, Freddy and Irene Bradshaw of Fordyce, Roger and Bonnie Hayes of Strong and Jamie and Alicia McCarty of Norphlet and his nieces and nephews, Bobbi, Blane, Laken, Zach, Ethan, Gabe, Noah, Shayla, Cole and Nia.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017 in Young’s Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Smith officiatin­g and under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Dawnie Gail Cogburn-Wells, 57, of Huttig, passed away April 1, 2017 at her residence.

Dawnie was born March 27, 1960 in El Dorado to Louia Cogburn and Vercelia “Vee” Sullivan Cogburn.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparen­ts, Vester and Sara Sullivan; paternal grandparen­ts, Wesley and Minnie Cogburn; step-paternal grandmothe­r, Vera Cogburn; and one nephew, James Wesley (Jay) Cogburn.

Survivors include her daughter, Rosie Mullins (John) of Pell City, Alabama; one son, Robert Jesse Wells; one granddaugh­ter, Halie R. Norword; grandson, Brandon C.W. Norwood; the father of her children, Robert C. Wells; and close friend, Bruce W. Massey.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, at the Huttig Assembly of God Church with services starting at 1 p.m. with Bro. Duane Amis officiatin­g.

Interment will be held at Cogburn Cemetery in Huttig under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels.
