EL DORADO — The South Arkansas Arts Center has announced their second annual 5x5 Art Dash will be held from 5 until 6 p.m. on May 5. Each $55 ticket admits one person for the Cinco de Mayo themed hor d’oeuvres and refreshments and one piece of 5x5 art.

At some point during the party hour, a bell will ring and that will be when participants dash for their favorite art piece hanging in the Price and Merkle Galleries. “At the event, all artwork will be signed on the back. You know the artists, but you don’t know whose piece you’ll get until you take it off the wall when the bell rings! Only 55 tickets are available for this event. Reserve your ticket now by calling the SAAC office at 870-862-5474,” said Susan Harper at the arts center.

Julia Slaughter, one of the donating artists, said, “The 5x5 Art Dash visual arts fundraiser, with the small format and a ‘no rules, no pressure’ attitude, lends itself to diverse subjects and mediums and make it a really fun one to participate in as an artist.”

“If you have enjoyed artwork by local member artists over the last decade, the 5×5 Art Dash is your opportunity to get a piece of work by your favorite artist. Most of these 55 artists have shown in featured exhibitions in our galleries. You’ve seen others in the Membership Show. Some are nationally recognized, award winning artists. All are passionate about their work and dedicated to their art. They have all graciously agreed to donate their artwork for the 5×5 Art Dash fundraiser,” Harper said.
