SMACKOVER - Mallory Brewer pitched a one-hitter and Abby Crawford homered Thursday in Smackover’s 17-0 victory over Fordyce. The Lady Bucks improved to 23-2 with the three-inning win.

Brewer gave up one hit and hit two batters while striking out five in three innings. The senior hit back-to-back batters in the first but was helped when Lydia Pullin ran down a line drive near the line in right field for the third out.

Smackover had nine hits, including a tworun homer in the first by Crawford. The sophomore also had a double and drove in three runs.

“They made plays. That line drive really was a great catch,” said Smackover coach Dennis Steele. “The kids hit the ball when we had to.”

The Lady Bucks scored six in the first and 11 runs in the second inning.

Alexis Cook had a three-run triple. Nicole Goss drove in two runs with a single. Tessa Watson had a RBI double. Sabrina Estridge and Heather Haltom both had RBI singles.

Smackover travels to Drew Central on Monday before hosting Senior Night on Tuesday against Junction City.
