South Arkansas Community College is offering several free programs this summer for high-school students who want to prepare for entering college. Deadline for applicatio­n is April 21.

Monday, June 5

South Arkansas Community College will host its annual Camp Lotsafun from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. June 5-June 29 at the SouthArk Center for Workforce Developmen­t, located at 3698 E. Main Road.

Camp Lotsafun is a four-week summer day camp offered Monday through Thursday by SouthArk’s department of Community Education. Open to area youth in grades one through six,Camp Lotsafun emphasizes the idea of intersecti­ng education with fun.

Parents who sign their kids up before May 5 are eligible for an Adventure Pass that includes four weeks at Camp Lotsafun. The Adventure Pass is $260, plus a $30 supply fee. For more informatio­n or to sign up for Camp Lotsafun, contact SouthArk’s Community Education department at 870-864-7192.

Southern Arkansas University’s Coding and Cyber Security Summer Camp is open to students entering grades eight through 12 and is scheduled for June 5-7.

Overnight or daily participan­ts are welcome. Cost is $250 and includes room and board and a T-shirt. Register by May 28 online at www.SAUmag.edu/CS-Camp. The Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado will present its Laugh, Learn and Play Summer Camp June 6-July 29 for youth ages 6-18.

They will engage in activities such as interactiv­e lessons from math and engineerin­g to space and science, graphic and performing arts, indoor and outdoor recreation and a variety of other activities and field trips. Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge.

Laugh, Learn and Play Summer Camp will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m at the Northwest Unit, located at 1201 N. West Ave. Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m at the David Wetheringt­on Unit, located at 1401 E. Center St.

Sunday, June 11

The 2017 Eric Konkol High School Elite Camp will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. on June 11 at a cost of $40 per camper for boys entering grades nine through 12. The camp will be held at the Thomas Assembly Center on the Louisiana Tech University campus in Ruston.

The one-day camp will offer high school players the chance to compete against other high-level players from the region. Individual work, drill work and five-on-five competitio­n will be an integral part of the experience.

The 2017 Eric Konkol Basketball Day Camp will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 12-15 for boys entering grades two through 10, at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. The camp will focus on the basic offensive and defensive fundamenta­ls in a week-long setting.

The cost is $200 and the camps are open to any and all participan­ts but space is limited and is filled on a firstcome, first-serve basis.

The 2017 Eric Konkol Junior Bulldog Camp will be from 9 a.m. to noon June 19-21 for boys entering grades kindergart­en through six. The three-day mini-camp is designed for the younger Bulldog fans to learn and develop their fundamenta­ls.

The cost is $125 with each session allowing campers to participat­e in drills, competitio­ns and games to improve their skill level. Campers from either camp will have photo and autograph sessions with available Bulldog players.

Southern Arkansas University will host its third-annual Mulerider Kids College for students entering grades 1-6. The two Kids College camps will be from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. June 26-29.

Southern Arkansas University will host its inaugural Mulerider Teen College for students entering grades seven through nine. The new Teen College will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 5-7.

It is designed to give junior high students fun and educationa­l experience­s outside of a regular classroom setting. Tuition includes a T-shirt and lunch each day.

The Arkansas Farm Bureau will host M*A*S*H (Medical Applicatio­ns of Science for Health) camp for high school juniors and seniors interested in healthcare-related profession­s.
