Junction City and Smackover go head to head in softball.

SMACKOVER Smackover clinched the 3A-8 regular season championsh­ip Tuesday with a 5-0 victory over Junction City on the Lady Bucks’ Senior Night. Smackover ran its record to 26-2 overall and 11-0 in both conference and the 3A/4A District 12.

“It was just a good game,” said Smackover coach Dennis Steele, whose team has now won 20 consecutiv­e games.

Senior Mallory Brewer held the Lady Dragons to just one hit. The lefty struck out 11, walked three and hit one batter in seven innings of work.

After scoring two in the bottom of the first, the Lady Bucks’ bats were quieted by Junction City freshman Charly Temple until the sixth. The Lady Bucks broke the game open with three runs on three hits. Abby Crawford walked and scored on a triple by Karli Goocher. Lydia Pullin drove in a run with a single and Lexi Gilbert tacked on a RBI double.

Smackover scored two runs in the first when Tessa Watson and Nicole Goss both singled and scored on a two-run single by Alexis Cook.

The Lady Bucks had seven hits in the game, led by Brewer, who went 2-for-3. Heather Haltom, Pullin, Gilbert, Goocher and Cook also had hits.

Junction City’s lone hit came off the bat of Memorie Hall in the third inning.

In the circle for the Lady Dragons, Temple struck out seven batters.

Smackover hosts Camden Fairview on Thursday in Norphlet and travels to Fordyce on Friday.

Parkers Chapel 15, Bearden 0

PARKERS CHAPEL Courtney Phelps tossed a no-hitter Tuesday as the Lady Trojans blanked the Lady Bears. Parkers Chapel improved to 17-5 on the season.

The Lady Trojans churned out nine runs in the first and six in the second of the three-inning game. Parkers Chapel had 13 hits in the game.

Phelps was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI. Jaycie Burns had two hits, including a double, and drove ina run. T.K. Burson was 2-for-2. Allison Rogers had a double and two RBI. Savannah Jones was 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In the circle, Phelps allowed no runs on no hits with a walk and six strikeouts.

Parkers Chapel hosts Hampton on Thursday, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
