Arts center sets date for return of fundraising bags.

-

EL DORADO — A drive-by drop-off of “Change ‘n SAAC” coin bags will be offered on the South Arkansas Arts Center parking lot from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday. SAAC has been in the midst of a fundraising effort since February called “Change ’n SAAC.” The community was asked to support the arts by collecting their extra change for SAAC. Burlap sacks, which were printed with the logo and provided for everyone in which to put their coins, are due by May 1.

“May Day! May Day! Help us change the SAAC!” said Beth Callaway, SAAC board member and fundraising chairman, who has been heading up this inventive fund drive. “I got the inspiration for this fundraiser when I was cleaning my Mom’s house. I found a little porcelain pig bank that was from a fundraiser for the El Dorado Boy’s and Girl’s Club many years ago. It gave me the idea that we could do something similar here at SAAC. We had the sacks made by Lindsey at Art Attack, and, hopefully, they are being filled with everyone’s change. We have had them available for anyone that came through the SAAC doors since February and also mailed the bags out to our members.

“SAAC wants to make the return of your full bag as easy as possible by hosting a ‘drive by’ midday Friday, where you are invited to drive into the parking lot and someone will accept your bag without you even having to get out of your car!” added Callaway.

The “Change ’n SAAC” bag contents will be counted live on Facebook on May 1. Follow South Arkansas Arts Center for the live reveal.
