EL DORADO — New Olive Missionary Baptist Church will host the Brilliantly Black Youth Conference starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church, located at 1548 N. Roselawn.

“We want to hold an event that will inspire our young people,” said Pastor Eugene Farley on Wednesday. “This event will feature K.O. Young and his wife, Dr. Krishna Young of Little Rock, who sponsor the Boyz 2 Men Summit event every year,” Farley said.

Farley said he met K.O. Young while both men were students at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

K.O. Young a motivational speaker and is a member of the Les Brown Platinum Speakers Network.

For over 30 years, Young has served as a role model, and he has led the Boyz 2 Men Summit, one of the largest urban mentoring bootcamps, for over a decade, serving 2,500 boys.

He is also the author of the soon-to-be released book, “Attitude is Everything — Refuel, Recharge and Re-Energize Yourself in Business and Life.”

Dr. Krishna Young has served or is serving as deaconess chaplin, Missionary Society president, youth and adult Sunday school teacher, an Arkansas Department of Education consultant, education administrator, teacher, director, school superintendent, conference host, adjunct professor, and the Union District Baptist Association’s Dean of the Congress of Christian Education.

The youth conference is free and open to the community, Farley said.

Following the conference at 12:30 p.m. there will be a lunch, which costs $10 per person. Then at 2 p.m. there will be basketball games at the Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado.

“There will be some old school players, but mostly it will be the kids and they will form up teams pretty quickly,” Farley said. “If you’ve got game, come on out and play with us.”
