2017 Graduation Calendar
Friday, May 5
MAGNOLIA —Southern Arkansas University’s Spring Commencement ceremonies are scheduled, starting with the Department of Nursing honoring 49 nursing candidates at 8:30 a.m.
Following will be the first undergraduate ceremony at 10:30 a.m., which will consist of candidates from the Rankin College of Business and the College of Science and Engineering. The second undergraduate ceremony will be at 2 p.m., and will be for candidates from the College of Education and the College of Liberal and Performing Arts. The graduate ceremony is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Saturday, May 6
CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas will hold commencement in the Jeff Farris Health and Physical Education Center. Commencement for the College of Education, College of Liberal Arts and College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics will be at 10 a.m.; the College of Business
and the College of Fine Arts and Communication will be held at 1 p.m and the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences will be held at 4 p.m.
Friday, May 12
EL DORADO — South Arkansas Community College’s spring commencement ceremony will held at 7 p.m. in the El Dorado Conference Center. The guest speaker will be former State Sen. Tracy Steele of North Little Rock, founder of the STAND and director of the Arkansas Health Services Permit Agency.
Saturday, May 13
PINE BLUFF — Actress and director Phylicia Rashad will be the keynote speaker for University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Spring 2017 graduating class. The free, public event will be held at 3 p.m. in the Pine Bluff Convention Center Arena.
Sunday, May 14 SMACKOVER — Smackover High School will host its baccalaureate at 6 p.m. at
Smackover First Baptist Church.
EL DORADO — The 2017 graduating class of El Dorado High School will participate in baccalaureate ceremonies at 8 p.m. at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium.
Monday, May 15
SMACKOVER — Smackover High School will host senior ceremonies, starting with the Senior Class Luncheon at 11 a.m. The school’s Senior Day event will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Hobgood Auditorium, followed by a Senior Reception at 3:30 p.m. in the Smackover Downtown Library.
EL DORADO — El Dorado High School’s graduation ceremony will be held at 8 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
Smackover High School’s graduation will be held at 8 p.m. at Buckaroo Stadium.
Tuesday, May 16 JUNCTION CITY — The Junction City High School awards and senior tea will be held at 9 a.m. in the JCHS Multipurpose Room.
Wednesday, May 17 PARKERS CHAPEL — Parkers Chapel High School will host its Baccalaureate at 7 p.m. at Parkers Chapel Cafeteria.
Thursday, May 18
PARKERS CHAPEL — Parkers Chapel High School’s graduation will be held at 7 p.m. at Victor Nipper Football Stadium. In case of rain, graduation will be at the gym, 401 Parkers Chapel Road. JUNCTION CITY — Junction City High School’s graduation will be held at 8 p.m. in the JCHS gymnasium.
Friday, May 19
STRONG —Strong High School’s graduation ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. at Jerry Burson Field, located at 635 South Concord St. and speaker will be Recce Broadnax.
West Side Christian School’s graduation ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. in the West Side Baptist Church sanctuary.
Monday, May 22
EL DORADO — Northwest Elementary’s graduations
will be at the College Avenue Church of Christ in the Family Life Center. Kindergartners will graduate at 8:30 a.m. and fourth graders will graduate at 10 a.m.
EL DORADO — Retta Brown Elementary’s graduation ceremonies will be at East Main Baptist Church, 1903 E. Main. Kindergartners will graduate at 9 a.m. and fourth graders will graduate at 10:30 a.m. JUNCTION CITY — Junction City Elementary kindergarten graduation will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the JCHS Multipurpose Room.
Tuesday, May 23
EL DORADO — Yocum Primary’s kindergarten graduation will be held beginning at 9 a.m. and at 1 p.m. PARKERS CHAPEL — Parkers Chapel’s kindergarten graduation will be held at 9 a.m. in the new gym.
Thursday, May 25
JUNCTION CITY— Junction City Elementary sixth grade graduation will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the JCHS Multipurpose Room.
