Kids' University enrichment program has been scheduled
MONTICELLO — Kids’ University, a summer enrichment program sponsored by the University of Arkansas at Monticello, will be held July 10-13 and includes a wide variety of classes and activities.
Morning sessions for students entering grades 1-3 are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Afternoon sessions for students entering grades 4-6 are slated for 1-5 p.m. Classes include:
Imagination Station, giving young students a chance to explore their creativity;
Artistic Exploration, providing instruction in how to paint and make silly self-portraits;
Wacky Sports, with instruction in soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball;
Oodle Boodles of Fun, showing children how to have fun, play games and run relays with pool noodles (bring a change of clothes on Thursday for water play);
Chess Basics, exploring the basic tactics and strategies of chess;
Super Silly Science, a hands-on class with lots of experiments;
Sing, Act, Dance, giving students a chance to act out a musical theatre selection for their parents;
Books Coming Alive Through You, teaching children to act out the characters they read about in books;
Farm to Table, a class to teach children about agriculture and how food reaches the table.
