Students invited to participate in Mother's Day contest
EL DORADO — Area students are invited to pay homage to their mothers in the fourth annual Meet Me at the Court Mother of Year Poster and Essay Contest.
The contest will include two divisions.
Participants in kindergarten — fifth grade may submit posters with drawings of their mothers or illustrations of collages.
Sixth — 12 graders may submit essays explaining why they feel their mothers should be named Mother of the Year.
Essays must be typed or written in blue or black ink. Essays written in pencil will not be accepted.
The deadline to submit posters and essays is 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Posters and essays may be delivered by hand to Veronica Bailey, founder and chief executive officer of Meet Me at the Court.
Essays may also be mailed to Bailey at 306 S. Newton Ave., El Dorado, AR, 71730, or to Janis Van Hook at 823 Ouachita Ave., El Dorado, AR, 71730.
Winners will be announced during the Meet Me at the Court meeting at 4 p.m. on May 13 on the basketball court in the area of Ouachita and Lester, behind Arby’s.
A special dinner honoring mothers will follow the announcement.
The event is free and open to the public.
