If it wasn’t for mothers

- Haley Smith

Today is mothers day. It’s a time of thankfulness for the woman who has cared for you since the second they knew you were theirs. We spend the day telling our mother how lucky we are to have them and how much we love them in return.

This year, I have been reflecting on what all I have because of my mother. Here are a couple of things I have come to realize.

If it wasn’t for mothers, we wouldn’t be the persons we are today.

They have shaped your personality since the moment you were placed in their arms.

Despite what you think, you have parts of your mother’s personality. I know I have my mother’s stubborn will and loyalty, among many other traits that she has passed down. Despite hating these likenesses in school, they are now some of my best features.

They also tried their best to make you better then they are.

My mother nurtured my bubbly, happy nature. She reads everything I have ever written and wants me to pursue my creative side.

They want you to be a happy person, that means your mother pushes you to pursue parts of you that you love even if they don’t have those same qualities.

If it wasn’t for mothers, we wouldn’t have cheerleaders.

No one is as big of a fan as your mother. They are there for every game, every award show and every milestone.

She is one of the first people you call after you get a promotion. You are excited to tell her when you get engaged, find out you have a child on

the way or are making your first purchase as an adult.

I can’t tell you the times my mom has sat down and read my stories. I am very private with what I am working on in my private life, but she always reads what I write. She may not agree with everything I write but she always takes time to tell me how good and well thought out it is.

If it wasn’t for mothers, we wouldn’t have a safe place to go when the world sucks.

There has been a study done that says the reason children act the worse for their mother’s than anyone else, is because we are unafraid to let go around our mothers because we know, no matter what, she will love us.

There is a reason why when something bad is happening, all I can say is that I want my mom. I know she will drop anything to help or just to be by my side.

Her love never changes even when you’re being a bratty pain in the rear.

If it wasn’t for mothers, we wouldn’t know what true love should feel like.

No one will ever love you the way your mother does. She loves you for all of your virtues and despite your vices.

My mother loves me even though I never listen and I have to learn things for myself by doing it the hard way. She is always there to give me a hug and explain what I need to fix my mistakes.

There is no limit to what a mother feels for her child.

She loved you well before she saw your face and even before the first time she felt you kick. Those things just cemented what she already knew.
