City Arrests

• Rodrick Dismuke, 43, of 1216 Mattocks Lane, was arrested on May 21 on a felony charge of third-degree domestic battery, victim was pregnant. Police were called to the Mattocks Lane in reference to a disturbanc­e, and Dismuke’s girlfriend, Shannon N. Chumley, 28, told officers that he grabbed her around the neck and shoved her down during an argument. Dismuke told police that Chumley started hitting him, and he took her to the ground to keep her away from him, noting that he warned her several times to stop hitting him. Police said the victim had a small mark in the area of her neck. A witness said she was awakened by a noise and saw Dismuke holding Chumley down, and it appeared as though he was trying to prevent Chumley from striking him. Chumley said she was several months pregnant with Dismuke’s child and Dismuke said he knew she was pregnant. Chumley was arrested on a misdemeano­r charge of third-degree domestic battery. Dismuke was charged with a felony because Chumley was pregnant, and he knew she was pregnant.

• A man told police on May 26 that someone stole his truck, a 1998 Dodge Ram, from the parking lot of the Salvation Army, 419 S. Madison. The man said he had last seen the truck at approximat­ely 10:30 p.m. the previous night. The truck was found abandoned just after 8:30 a.m. on May 26 in the area of East Block and South Mosby, police said.

• On May 25, police were called to East Main Pawn, 1205 E. Main, in reference to an attempted burglary. An employee said someone had cut several security latches on the rear door. Police said the suspect did not enter the business.

• Two employees of Dairy Queen, 2201 N. West Ave., told police on May 24 that a co-worker made terroristi­c threats against them. One of the employees said the suspect lifted her shirt, and the complainan­t said she could see a gun in the suspect’s waistband. Police said that while they were speaking with one of the complainan­ts, the suspect sent the complainan­t a message via social media, warning, “You better keep my name outta your mouth.” The suspect was a juvenile, according to a police report.

• A woman told police on May 24 that someone broke into her vehicle in the 900 block of Hazelhurst and stole approximat­ely $5 cash and a small amount of change

• A woman reported on May 24 that her wallet — containing two credit cards, a debit card, checkbook and $40 cash — was missing. She said she last saw the wallet on May 22 as she was shopping at Dollar General, 1100 W. Hillsboro.

• On May 24, a woman told police that someone broke into her residence in the 400 block of Cargile and stole two television­s, two video game systems and a total of six video games. She told police that a third TV had been moved from the bedroom to the living room. Police noted that the condition of the scene was inconsiste­nt with parts of the woman’s statements. They also said they received a call about a burglary at the same residence on May 2, but they were unable to make contact with complainan­t at the time. The woman said she did not call police on May 2, though 911 dispatcher­s provided the same name of the complainan­t with whom police spoke on May

24. Police said the woman was issued a citation to appear in 35th Judicial District Court.

• Officers responded just after 11 p.m. on May 23 to a report of shots fired in the 1300 block of East Cedar. A resident in the area said she heard several gunshots and then a male banging on the door of her neighbor’s residence, screaming for help. She noted that the male was a relative of her neighbor. She said the victim told her and her neighbor that he did not know who attacked him. Police said the male’s clothes and hands were covered in blood, and he was transporte­d by ambulance to Medical Center of South Arkansas. The man told police that he had stopped by a nearby convenienc­e store in the area of Main and Martin Luther King and a teenage boy asked him “what he had going on for the remainder of the night.” He said he told boy that he was going home, and when he arrived home a short time later, the boy was sitting on the porch. The man said he asked suspect why he was sitting on the porch and rushed the suspect, but he was then attacked from behind by a second suspect who was wearing a ski mask. Both suspects ran south on Martin Luther King, the man said. He said he then ran to a relative’s house for help. Police said the man sustained minor injuries to the top of his head. Hours later, the man told police that a cellular phone, a box cutter and a pistol were in the front yard and on the front porch of the East Cedar residence. Police said they also noticed blood on the porch. They determined that the pistol was a pellet gun. A possible suspect was identified.

• An employee of McDonald’s, 501 S. Timberlane, told police on May 23 that a woman passed a counterfei­t $100 bill at the drive-through window. The employee said she gave the customer change for a purchase that totaled $4.39.

• A woman told police on May 23 that someone broke into her vehicle at her residence in the 1100 block of North Highland and stole $20 cash and prescripti­on medication.

• On May 22, a man told police that someone broke into his residence on Graves Court and stole two touch-screen phones, two Bluetooth speakers, hair clippers, a backpack, his birth certificat­e, and another item that belonged to his father.

• A man told police on May 22 that someone attempted to break into his residence in the 2300 block of Gail Place. The man said he heard loud knocks on the door, and when he opened the door, he saw a man he recognized with a T-shirt wrapped around his face. The man said the suspect attempted to force his way inside the residence, but he was able to the slam the door and lock it. The man said he looked outside and saw two other males leaning against his truck in the driveway. He said there a white Ford F-15 pickup with tinted windows was also parked outside. The man said the first suspect cursed loudly, told him to come outside and began banging on the door again. He said the three three males then got into white truck and left. About an hour later, the truck returned, and the driver revved the engine, the complainan­t said. Police said they found the truck at Walmart Supercente­r, 2730 N. West Ave., and spoke to the driver, who had been identified as a suspect.

• An employee of Lion Oil, 1001 School, reported on May 22 the theft of $10,000 worth of Wal-Mart gift cards and a company laptop computer. The employee identified a possible suspect.

• On May 22, officers responded to a burglary at the future site of Hobby Lobby, 2115 N. West Ave. A building superinten­dent said copper wire was stolen from a breaker box an extension cord was missing and several other items had been disturbed.

• A woman told police on May 19 that a woman she knew threatened her with a knife. The woman said she arrived home in the 500 block of South West Avenue, and the suspect pulled in behind her vehicle and exited her vehicle with a knife. The woman said she remained in her vehicle as the suspect yelled at her and threatened to stab her. The suspect then got back inside her vehicle and left, the victim said, adding there have been ongoing tensions between her and the suspect.

• On May 16, an employee of Blackmon’s Furniture and Appliance, 1332 W. Hillsboro, told police that someone attempted to fraudulent­ly use a credit card to purchase two refrigerat­ors totaling $7,454.22. The employee said the person sent an email with the name “Jim Parker” in Arizona. totaling, $7,454.22, the employee said. The employee said representa­tives of the credit card company, who said the account had been closed due to fraud. She said the man later sent another email, saying that a freight company was on the way to pick up the refrigerat­ors.

• A woman reported on May 15 that she had an altercatio­n with a co-worker at Billy Wood Honda, 1909 W. Hillsboro. She said the suspect followed her, harassed her, cursed at her, called her names, made inappropri­ate comments, and at one point, he placed his hand on her neck. She said much of the incident took place in front of a customer and another employee.
