Arts center to host “Tea With Mrs. Potts” on Saturday

EL DORADO — The South Arkansas Arts Center will host “Tea with Mrs. Potts” in the Price and Merkle Galleries on at 10 a.m. on Saturday. “This will be a family friendly event where your children can dress up as their favorite princess or prince and enjoy a fun morning of entertainm­ent and full service tea party, complete with beautiful and delicious treats,” said Susan Harper and Colleen Means at the arts center.

Mrs. Potts and Belle will be in costume during the tea to perform “Beauty and the Beast” and “Be Our Guest,” accompanie­d by Chris McCroskey, musical director. There will also be a photo backdrop where children will have the opportunit­y to have their photos taken with the characters in costume.

Also, on the same day, the box office will open for tickets to this summer’s musical, “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,” sponsored by Murphy USA. The classic love story between a bookish young woman and the beast that holds her captive, will run July 6-9 and July 12-16, with the curtain going up at 7:30 p.m. each day and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays. Box office hours are 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The Broadway musical is a memorable musical love story performed by local talent and filled with unforgetta­ble characters, lavish sets and costumes, and dazzling production numbers, including “Be Our Guest” and the beloved title song.

Tickets for “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” are $30 for non-members, $20 for SAAC members and $10 for students. There is also a champagne pre-show reception on opening night only. Tickets are an additional $10. Call the box office at 870-862-5474 to reserve tickets.
