JOSEPH THOMAS III John Thomas III, 56, of El Dorado, died July 1, 2017 in El Dorado.

JOYCE CARY Graveside service for Joyce Cary, 93, of El Dorado, formerly of Magnolia, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Magnolia City Cemetery with the Rev. Barbara Lewis officiatin­g under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. The family requests memorial donations to charity of donor’s choice.

JADA M. DARDEN Jada Marlette Darden, 92, of Union County, passed away July 3, 2017 at the Ashley County Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Perry’s Funeral Chapels. A 2 p.m. graveside service will be at Arlington Cemetery on Thursday.

JOHN C. HASTINGS Funeral for John Charles Hastings, 83, of El Dorado, will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017 in Young’s Chapel.

Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors with full military honors.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Young’s.

ARTHUR M. WESSON

JR. Memorial service for Arthur M. Wesson Jr., with military honors, is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Wounded Warrior Project or the Gary Sinise Foundation.

The family will be at 1322 Forbes Drive, Garland, Texas. Services will be under the direction of Eastgate Funeral Home, of Garland.

TERI L. CALHOUN Teri Leigh Taylor Calhoun, 52, of Smackover passed away on Friday,

June 30, 2017 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.

Born January 24, 1965 in El Dorado, she was the daughter of Max O. and Jerolyn Tompkins Taylor. Teri was a member of Maple Avenue Baptist Church in Smackover where she was very active and was baptized by Pastor Ed Glover at an early age. Teri was a graduate of Smackover High School and was a member of the High School band serving as the drum major for two years. She was a member of the Spanish club and numerous other organizati­ons.

Teri attended the University of Louisiana Monroe before settling in Austin, Texas where she attended the Methodist Church of Round Rock with her two daughters, Margaret and Amelia. She continued her education in Austin where she obtained her paralegal degree.

Teri was an accomplish­ed cook and baker. She was an excellent self-taught seamstress and had a children’s clothing line. She could create all type of gowns, formals and beautiful clothes as well as being an accomplish­ed quilter. Most of all Teri was a loving mother to her two daughters.

Teri was last employed by Sherri Hill, a fashion dress designer in Austin. She recently moved back to Smackover, her hometown, where she and her mother planned to open a bakery, something Teri had always wanted to do. She was very excited to begin this project.

She was preceded in death by her grandparen­ts, Ervin and Flora Taylor of Taylortown, LA and Marjorie Tompkins of Wesson, two sisters, one an infant and Judi Maxanne Taylor Hill. She is also preceded in death by two uncles, Fletcher “Sonny” Tompkins and Gary Tompkins.

Survivors include her parents, Max and Jerolyn Taylor of Smackover, two daughters, Margaret Caroline Calhoun of Nashville, TN and Amelia Ann-Sarah Calhoun of Denton, Texas. She is also survived by a sister, Vickie Lane Taylor Kirk of Camden, AR, one nephew, Steven Taylor Puska of Camden and one niece, Candice Dee Calloway of Austin, TX. Also surviving are two aunts, Sue Tompkins of Ruston, LA and Rosie Tompkins of Wesson, AR as well as other extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Young’s chapel with Rev. Benjy McCann with interment to follow in Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Young’s.

The family wishes to thank Baptist Medical Center doctors and nurses who did everything possible for our beloved Teri.

BRIAN HEBERT Brian Hebert, 63, of El Dorado passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.

Born Feb. 26, 1954 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he was the son of Otis J. and Theresa Pecquet Hebert. Brian was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University and was self-employed as a consulting forester. Brian was also a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America.

Preceding him in death, along with his parents, was a brother, Otis J. Hebert Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Jan Hebert of El Dorado; and a daughter, Megan Wilson (Tyler) also of El Dorado. He is also survived by a brother, Mike Hebert (Cathy) of New Roads, Louisiana and sisters, Deb Hebert (Susie Buckley) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Trudy Champagne (Eric) of New Roads, Louisiana along with his brother-in-law, James Tighe of Ashdown. Surviving grandchild­ren are Kynslee Brooke Wilson and Grady Tighe Wilson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today, July 4, at Young’s.

Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Young’s Chapel with Kent Jobe officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

HILLIARY J. MILLER Hilliary Joan Tagart Miller, 82, of Russellvil­le, beloved mother, grandmothe­r, and greatgrand­mother, passed away on July 1, 2017.

She was born in Texarkana, Texas on Oct. 17, 1934 to the late Katie Mable Tagart and the Late Harold W. Tagart. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Russellvil­le. She was a school teacher and a Gifted and Talented coordinato­r for 45 years. Most of her teaching was done in Arkansas, including elementary schools in Texarkana and as the Gifted and Talented coordinato­r for 16 years in Norphlet. She also taught in American schools in Tehran, Iran, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Milano, Italy. She loved traveling, camping, arts and crafts, including portrait drawing, calligraph­y and Scherensch­nitte. She also loved playing the piano, organ, church pipe organ and mountain dulcimer.

She graduated from Arkansas Senior High School with the class of 1952. She served as the band’s drum major. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayettevil­le. She received her Gifted and Talented Certificat­ion from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Eddie G. Miller; her children, Kirk Miller of Monroe, Louisiana; daughter, Kathryn Williams and her husband, Craig Williams, of Russellvil­le; also six grandchild­ren, Brian Miller, Hilliary Blakley, Katie Massey, Casey Williams, Caitlin Coran, and Callie Barkley; and five great-grandchild­ren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and a son, Brian Casey Miller.

Cremation arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellvil­le. Burial will take place at a later date at Memorial Gardens in Texarkana. FRANK G. PIRNIQUE Frank G. Pirnique, 79, of Palouse, Washington, passed away June 29, 2017 at his Palouse home.

Frank was born Aug. 15, 1937 in Little Rock, to Alphonse and Frances (Gray) Pirnique. He grew up in Arkansas and received his education there. Frank was an accomplish­ed swimmer, growing up and swam for Jimmy Miller at the Boys Club in Little Rock. He attended Northweste­rn State University in Louisiana where he earned his BS and master’s degrees in mathematic­s. Frank continued competitiv­e swimming while in college. In the backstroke, he had the eighth best time nationally, qualifying him for the Olympic trials. Frank’s involvemen­t in the Boy Scouts was of great importance in his life and he was very proud of earning his Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow. He spoke often about the experience­s and how he achieved his Eagle Scout. Frank taught in Little Rock at the Junior College and the University Of Arkansas Medical Center. Frank moved to Seattle and worked for a number of years for Boeing. In 1968, he moved to Pullman, Washington, where he had a career at Washington State University as a systems analyst for 33 years. He provided expert assistance in an array of programmin­g and computer skills procedures. Frank assisted graduate students in completing their master’s thesis and doctoral dissertati­on research. He was always very welcoming to students and spent as much time with them as was needed. Frank married Mary Bennett in 1970 in Pullman and together they have made their home at the family acreage outside of Palouse. Frank had a unique love of the outdoors. For over 38 years his jet boat took him into Hells Canyon in the spring, summer and fall. The family calendar rotated around what the outdoors had to offer. He was an avid bird hunter with his beloved dogs. Frank enjoyed deer and elk hunting, fishing, especially in Kodiak, Alaska, Dahl Sheep hunts in the Northwest Territorie­s of Canada and snow skiing in McCall, Indiana and Grand Targhee, Wyoming.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, at the family home outside Palouse; his daughter, Kristi Pirnique-Kozney (Scott) of Arvada, Colorado; three grandchild­ren, Ryanne, Hunter and Audrey Kozney; his brother Allan (Jane) Pirnique of El Dorado; step-sister, Carol (Alf) Williams of Little Rock; his nieces and nephews,

Amy and Gray Williams, David and Michael Pirnique; and two cousins, Sandy Gray and Gray Dillenger.

At Frank’s request no public services will be held. Kimball Funeral Home and Crematory of Pullman, have been entrusted with arrangemen­ts. Memorial donations are suggested to the Boy Scouts of America or to a favorite charity. Online condolence­s may be sent to www.kimballfh.com.
