God bless the USA

-

To The Editor:

On Saturday night, July 1, after dealing with a tragedy in connection with my profession, I got into bed about midnight, tossing and turning, recalling the event and hoping I would be in shape physically and emotionally to stay awake during services at my new-found church home at Three Creeks Baptist.

Not only did I make it to the worship service early, but I took part in one of the most memorable services praising God and country, that I have ever been involved in. Can you imagine a country music recording being sung by the original artist with the

congregation joining in.

By the time you have probably figured out what I have made mention of. Yes folks, the music in question was “God Bless the USA.” To me, this song has become a banner for all Christians and everyone who claims America as their home. It was a stirring service and I pray to God that I might be a part of many more celebrations such as this one at Three Creeks Baptist. I am sure most other churches had similar services in preparation for July 4, but I wish everyone who reads this could have been present at TCB to take part in the ceremony.

I accepted Jesus Christ as a teen in the rural Joyce Baptist Church, but like most other folks, strayed from

my religious convictions with my faith and actions not as positive as they should have been. I married and started a family, growing closer to God, but still not being the Christian I should have been. Two years ago, I lost the love of my life and this drew me closer to God than I had ever been. That is why the Sunday celebration at TCB is so special to me.

Now, when I say, “I’m sorry” or “God bless you,” it is genuine and from the heart through Jesus Christ. If you don’t know God or may be seeking a new church home, I invite you to visit us at Three Creeks Baptist.
