Notice of Passing

VERILEE GILL Verilee “Vera” Gill, 92, of Smackover, AR passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado, AR.

Visitation will be from 12:30 – 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Young’s in El Dorado.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 13 at Young’s with Rev. Allison Howell officiating. Burial will be Friday July 14, 2017 at noon at Little Rock National Cemetery, 2532 Springer Blvd., Little Rock, AR 72206 under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Obituaries

DONALD RALPH BARBER Donald Ralph Barber, 81, of El Dorado, passed away, Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. He was born June 2, 1936, to Charlie Oscar and Willie Lee McCoy Barber in Newark, AR.

He worked for Con-Agra as the personnel manager. Donald graduated from Arkansas State University in

1965. He served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and as a director in the couples class at the First Baptist Church of Norphlet and was also a member of the couples class and Golden Agers at Mount Baptist Union Church. He was active in Kiwanis Club, Gideons International and taught management classes at SAU El Dorado and at the Vo-Tech.

Preceding him in death are his parents; first wife, Mary Jane Wilson Barber; son, Richard Barber; four brothers, Forrest, Homer, Eugene and Lynn Barber; two sisters, Elleree Magness,

Polly Smith; and son-in-law, James Atwell.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Bryan Barber of El Dorado; two daughters, Melinda Watt (Rusty) of El Dorado, Melanie Atwell of El Dorado; brother, Jim Barber of Little Rock; two sisters, Louise Joyce of Little Rock, Erma Barnes of Hemet, CA; four step children, Renee Crawford (Donnie) of El Dorado, Cindy Bryan of El Dorado, Pam Wilson (Bubba) of Junction City, Eddie Bryan (Sandra) of Junction City; grandchildren, Stacy Buckingham (Alex), Jason Atwell (Vanessa), Cody Watt (Jessica); and step grandchildren, Casey Wilson (T.J.), Mandy LaGarde (Shannon), Michael Welch, Chris Wilson, Tina Barry, Shea Crawford (Kelsie), Laney Bryan (Kristyn), Miranda Bryan; five great grandchildren; and eleven step great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Young’s.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Norphlet with Rev. Trey Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

The family will be at 293 Mount Union Cutoff, El Dorado, AR and also at 157 Barber Lane in El Dorado.
