Drillers advance in Zone

SMACKOVER - The El Dorado Drillers advanced in the Zone 4 South Jr. Tournament Saturday with a 9-3 win over the El Dorado Wildcats. The Drillers will take on Texarkana today at 3:30 p.m. The Wildcats return to action Monday at 4:30 p.m. against the Benton Arkadelphia loser.

Blake Wells was the winning pitcher and also drove in three runs for the Drillers. Wells pitched five innings, allowing three runs on two hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

Bryan Robertson absorbed the loss for the Wildcats.

Offensively, Wells was 2-for-3 with a run and a walk. Brock McGoogan was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and a RBI. Charles Hoof had a double, walk, two runs and a RBI. Tyler Killingsworth was 1-for-1 with a run, RBI and stolen base. Ty Disotell had a hit, run and RBI.

For the Wildcats, Tyler Johnson, Brennan Jones and Robertson all had hits.

Arkadelphia 9, Smackover 5 SMACKOVER Arkadelphia rallied from a five-run deficit with four runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to advance. Smackover plays Poyen today at 12:30 p.m.

Cade Schibler was 2-for-4 with a double and drove in four runs for Smackover. Cody Smith was 2-for-4 with a run. Tucker Evans had a hit, walk, two runs and a RBI.

Evans pitched four innings, allowing two hits and five walks while fanning seven.
