Texarkana knocks off Drillers in tournament

SMACKOVER - Texarkana used a five-run sixth inning to pull away from the El Dorado Drillers 12-5 Sunday in the Zone 4 South Jr. Tournament.

The Drillers will face Smackover today at 1:30 p.m. El Dorado's Wildcats will take on Arkadelphia at 4:30 p.m. and Benton meets Texarkana tonight at 7:30.

Texarkana led the Drillers 6-0 before El Dorado scored five runs in the top of the fourth. But, Texarkana put the game away with a run in the bottom of hte fourth and the decisive five runs in the sixth.

Tyler Martin pitched for the Drillers, allowing six runs on four hits and six walks in three innings.

Offensively, Jack Smith was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Trace Shoup was 1-for-4 with two RBI. Reece Griffin had a walk and scored a run. Charles Hoof scored a run and Tyler Killingsworth had a run and two RBI.

Smackover 11, Poyen 1

SMACKOVER - Cody Smith pitched a gem Sunday as Smackover pounded Poyen.

Smith threw six innings, surrendering one hit and three walks with six strikeouts.

Offensively, Smith was 2-for4 with three runs and a RBI. Cade Schibler was 2-for-2 with two walks and four runs. Josh Saulsbury was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Baylor Brumley was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs. Jacob Eubanks was 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI. Alex Burris was 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI. Forrest Harrison was 1-for-4 with two RBI and Braden Doherty was 1-for-3 with a run.
