William Gill Holland, 69, of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and formerly of El Dorado, died Friday, July 7, 2017, at Veterans Affairs Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Gill was born July 31, 1947, to William R. and Dorothy May Eckles Holland in Sheffield, Alabama.

He graduated from Muscle Shoals (Alabama) High School in 1966, and joined the U.S. Army in March 1967.

Gill was a member of the 101st Airborne Division and served in the Vietnam War. He was awarded a Purple Heart before being honorably discharged with the rank of lieutenant in February 1969.

To his first marriage were born two sons, Heath and Thomas Holland.

Gill married Teri (Mitchell) Swisher in August 1986 in Kingfisher, and they made their home in Dover, Oklahoma, before moving to Muscle Shoals, in May 1989.

Gill and Teri’s daughter, Kayela, was born there in October 1992.

Gill began working in El Dorado in 1994, and worked there for 22 years before retiring from McGowan Working Partners in 2016.

Throughout all his moves, Gill carried with him his love of his family and deer hunting.

Gill and Teri returned to Kingfisher in January 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Edgar Berry, Larry Holland, Phillip Holland and Charles Holland.

He is survived by hi s wife of the home; sons, Heath Holland and Thomas Holland of El Dorado; son, Michael Swisher and wife, Julie, of Kingfisher; daughter, Whitney Marshall and husband, Kevin, of Piedmont, Oklahoma; daughter, Kayela Mosley and husband, Taylor, of Kingfisher; brother Jesse Holland of Moulton, Alabama; sister, Amanda Arias and husband, Gildardo, of Boerne, Texas; 10 grandchild­ren; and three great-grandchild­ren.

The family is planning private memorial services in Arkansas and Alabama.

made in Gill’s name to the American Cancer Society.
