Historic district to consider

signage for arts district

A special called meeting of the El Dorado Historic District Commission will be held at noon on Friday in the second floor conference room of El Dorado City Hall.

The meeting will be held to “hear more informatio­n on proposed signage for the Murphy Arts District of El Dorado Festivals and Events,” according to Elizabeth Eggleston, executive director of the historic district.

Aurelle Water Associatio­n

Benefit planned for injured firefighte­r

A benefit hamburger plate luncheon will be held for El Dorado Fire Department Lt. Trey Sewell, who was injured earlier this month in an automobile accident, to help defray medical expenses. The benefit will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Aug. 1 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in El Dorado.

The lunch will include hamburgers, barbecue beans, chips and dessert, for $8 a plate. To pre-register, call the church office at 862-4242 by noon on July 28. Orders of five or more will be delivered on request. St. Paul is located at the corner of College and Eighth Street and the fellowship hall will be open for those who wish to pick up their order or dinein.

‘Saving for Tuesday’ to play The band, “Saving for Tuesday,” will be playing at Hill’s Pool Hall, 205 E. Cedar, beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday.

RSVP sets dance for Friday The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) dance, will be held from 7 until 10 p.m. on Friday at Champagnol­le Landing Senior Center, 910 E. Fourth St. The dance will feature the music of the “L&N Express” (Lewis and Nutter). Admission is $6 per person and no smoking or alcohol will be allowed.
