MADREY A. CARELOCK Madrey Ann Cottrell Carelock, 79, of El Dorado, passed away on Aug. 11, 2017.

Services will be under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

IRUNOES J. JOHNSON Irunoes Jahiem Johnson, infant, passed away on Aug. 10, 2017 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado.

ROBERT BROCK Services for Deacon Robert “Burl” Brock, 71, a native of Spearsvill­e, Louisiana, will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Spearsvill­e, with the Rev. James Douglas, pastor, and the Rev. David Wilson officiatin­g.

Interment will follow at the Sweet Union Church Cemetery in Spearsvill­e, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.

BRANDON E. HICKS A memorial service for Brandon Eric Wisinger Hicks (Moe), 40, of Lillie, Louisiana, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Perry’s Funeral Chapels with Bro. J.D. Weido officiatin­g. A brief visitation prior to the services will begin at 12:30 p.m. today, under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels.

MAMIE J. NORMAN Funeral for Mamie Jane Norman, 93, of Camden, is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. today at Starlight Church of God in Christ in Strong, with the Rev. Kenneth Loggins officiatin­g. Interment will be held in Batts Chapel Cemetery in Huttig, under the direction of Reddick Funeral Home of Camden.

CURTIS PARKER Services for Curtis Parker, 70, of Urbana, will be at 1 p.m. today at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Urbana.

Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery in Urbana under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.

Public viewing will be held from 8 to 11:30 a.m. today.

Obituaries

JACK F. BRANTLEY Jack F. Brantley passed from this life on Aug. 20, 2017 at Corner Stone Rehab Facility in Texarkana, Texas, surrounded by family and friends.

Jack was born to Clyde and Allie Risinger Brantley on Jan. 4, 1927. He was one of four sons born to them. After finishing high school, Jack served in the U.S. Army entering during WWII. He spent a year in Germany during the occupation. He was proud to have served his country.

Later he joined his father at Brantley and Sons

Garage where he worked until his retirement. Jack was a long time member of East Faulkner Church of Christ where he served as a deacon.

Jack enjoyed life. You could often find Jack fishing, especially with Marcia. He was involved in church activities and always loved seeing his grandchild­ren. Jack was a follower of the Razorbacks and you would often find him watching their football and basketball games. He celebrated his 90th birthday with family and friends last December.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved brothers, Benny, Austin, and Charles; along with a grandson, Grant Jordan Meek. His brother-in-law, Don Rhoads, also preceded him in death.

His survivors are his wife of 67 years, Marcia Rhoads Brantley; a son, Fred Brantley and his wife, Helen, of Texarkana, Texas; a daughter, Anita and her husband, Robert Meek, of Harrison; two grandsons, Caleb Brantley and his wife, Laurel, of Tucson, Arizona and Jacob Brantley of Dallas, Texas. Also, he is survived by granddaugh­ters, Ashley Meek of Fayettevil­le, Whitney Meek of Roeland Park, Kansas and Hannah Brantley of Fayettevil­le. Also he is survived by sisters-in-law, Marie Brantley and Peggy Rhoads; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

His grandchild­ren will serve as pallbearer­s. Honorary pallbearer­s will be Richard Bates, Doyle Stegall, LeRoy Sheldon, and Mac McHeiny

Visitation will be at Perry’s Funeral Chapel from 4 to 6 p.m. today. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at East Faulkner Church of Christ with Scott Johnson officiatin­g. Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery near Spearsvill­e, Louisiana, under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

KATIE M. GRIFFITH Katie Marie Griffith, 88, of Independen­ce, Missouri, passed away Aug. 9,

2017.

Visitation will be from

6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday,

Aug. 13,

2017 at Carson Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independen­ce, Missouri 64052.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2017 at the chapel. Burial will take place in Mount Washington Cemetery.

Katie was born on March 11, 1929 in El Dorado, to Fitzhugh L. and Katie V. (Davis) McDowell. In 1971 Katie moved to the Independen­ce area with her husband and children. It was here that she explored her artistic side, and found that she had real talent. She was a wonderful mother, always there for her children through thick and thin. Her cooking was a highlight for her children, including floating steak!

Katie was a bus driver with the Independen­ce School District for over 10 years. She was a member of Trinity Presbyteri­an Church.

Survivors include daughters, Vallie True and Janice Walls (Thomas); son, Dale Griffith Jr. (Christine); grandchild­ren, Jennifer Malaeulu (Lucy), Jacquelyn Esala (Aaron), Jeremiah Walls and Clint Walls; great-granddaugh­ters, Bridget Walls and Brianne Walls; great-great-granddaugh­ter, Rilie Walls; sisters, Dora Lee Cauley and Nancy Dowdy; extended family and friends.

Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Griffith Sr.; her parents; and a brother, William McDowell.
