Shepherd chooses Boys & Girls Club to receive funds
LITTLE ROCK — State Rep. Matthew Shepherd of El Dorado has chosen to award his 2017 “Serving up Solutions” grant dollars to the Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado.
The dedicated work of the Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado to relieve hunger in their community makes them fitting recipients of these grant dollars and the gratitude of all El Dorado residents, according to a news release from the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance.
The Boys & Girls Club not only provides after-school snacks for club members, but also provides meals during the summer months for children who may not have regular meals at their homes.
“The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance thanks Representative Shepherd for his dedication to alleviating hunger in his district and throughout the state,” said Kathy Webb, executive director of the alliance.
“As a member of the Arkansas Legislative Hunger Caucus, I am committed to increasing access to nutritious food for people in my district who are in need. I am grateful to the alliance for being an important partner in this effort,” Shepherd said.
Legislators who served at the annual “Serving up Solutions” fundraising event presented by the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, in cooperation with the Arkansas Legislative Hunger Caucus, received grant dollars to award to agencies that provide food to the hungry in their legislative districts, to help them build the capacity of their programs and be of more service to the hungry Arkansans in their communities.
