Funeral directors ask local residents to recognize World Suicide Prevention Day

Young’s Funeral Directors have asked the community to join the funeral home staff in recognizing the National Day of Prayer for Faith, Hope and Life on Sept. 10, during World Suicide Prevention Day.

The National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention invites faith communities across the nation to pray for those whose lives have been touched by suicide. The focus of the day of prayer is to hope for the grow to of faith that brings hope, and hope that brings life.

Whether in a church, temple, synagogue, mosque, or even by an individuals, everyone is invited join The National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention. The organization also encourages people to pledge to be aware of those around them who are struggling with any of life’s challenges – especially those affected in any way by suicide, and to be there for them in their times of need.

On this Faith, Hope, Life Day, the organization encourages everyone to pray for emotional, mental and spiritual healing. Just as they regularly pray for persons with physical concerns, such as cancer or heart disease, they especially ask for prayer this day for those dealing with mental health concerns and feelings of hopelessness, and for the people who love and care for them.

The local event at Young’s Funeral Home is being organized by David Garner, funeral home director.

“I would like to (say) that if there is anyone that has lost a loved one and would like some support by a group of survivors, we are organizing a local chapter here in El Dorado,” Garner said.
