Barton's summer reading program

-

To The Editor:

The 1,220 children and adults who participated in Barton Library’s summer reading program "Build a Better World,” I would like to publicly thank the following sponsors for their generosity: Abry’s, Popeyes, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Stars Cinema, Chicken Express, Andy’s, Splash Kingdom, Flying Burger and Churches Chicken. A special thanks of all of the local presenters who donated their time and talents toward making the summer reading program a success: Moro State Park, Logoly State Park, Home Depot, Museum of Natural Resources, Master Gardeners, Brent Smith’s “Slingin Arrows”, CrossFit Sustain, Healthworks, SAAC and UCAPS. All of the Barton Library staff and children are grateful for the wonderful coverage from three of the finest photographers at our own El Dorado News-Times: Terrance Armstard, Haley Smith and Shadia Cranford. We appreciate all of the help from these warm and caring volunteers: Carolyn Wilson, Bonnie Monk, Ellen Patton and Brittany Silvey.

During the 2017 summer reading program, the children read 1,956 library books. They had the chance to experience many different ways to build a better world in their own community. This was a great way for the business to interact with their future leaders. I greatly appreciate all the hard work and contributions from everyone who helped make this summer program a success.

A special thanks to Lacey Ferrell who assisted me with all of the summer programs. The circulation staff did a wonderful job with processing a tremendous amount of books read by the children.

On behalf of Pastor Anthony Traylor, First Lady Vada Traylor, and the members of the New East Side Baptist Church, I would like to thank everyone again for your presence, spiritual praise and financial giving to our pastor and wife. It was truly an anointing, awesome musical. Thank you for all the love that was shown. It was overwhelming. A special thank you to all the choirs, soloists, Sims Mortuary, Suddenlink, all churches, individuals that gave donations, and acted as ushers. May God bless and keep each one of you, and the entire community.
