Labor Day closings

The Union County Courthouse will be closed Monday in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

All administra­tive offices of the city of El Dorado, including the police and fire department administra­tive offices, will be closed Monday for Labor Day.

Police and fire services will operate as usual.

The offices at Norphlet City Hall also will be closed Monday. Norphlet Water, Entergy and CenterPoin­t Energy bill payments can be put in the drop box in Mayor Jim Crotty’s office door. Normal business hours will resume at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Calion City Hall also will be closed Monday. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Make America Great Again rally planned for

Monday Members of the Union County Tea Party will host a Make America Great Again rally at 4 p.m. Monday on the east side of the Union County Courthouse.

According to a release, the event will include guest speakers Jan Morgan, a Second Amendment and open carry advocate; state Sen. Trent Garner, R-El Dorado; and Lt. Charles Smith of the El Dorado Salvation Army.

Anyone is welcome to attend.

Benefit Golf Tournmanet set

for Saturday The Union County First Responder Foundation is hosting a benefit golf tournament Saturday at the El Dorado Country Club.

The tournament will include both morning and afternoon flights with the first place team getting a $200 cash prize, the second place team getting a $100 cash prize and the third place team getting a $50 cash prize. Other contests will include longest drive, five iron shots and a hole-in-one gets a chance to win a new vehicle.
