Thank you El Dorado Police Department

-

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter to thank the El Dorado Police Department for helping me with my grandson (on Aug. 31). Your help was greatly appreciated.

There are a couple of things not accurate in your report on the

front page of the paper (on Sept. 2). Yes, Kerstain was acting crazy. I took him to get help. He was thrown into the glass at the hospital by the security officer. That’s how he got the cut on his forehead. He was then handcuffed and put on a police car and if he acted out in any way they would lift his arms up which was very painful.

I was needed to sign papers inside so I was taken away from all the chaos going on but I did see hospital personnel come out and treat Kerstain as he laid on top of the car. Next thing I knew, they had put my grandson in a police car and taken him to jail.

Kerstain is a mental patient and they had changed his medications up somewhat. I do know that pain pills he (received) that afternoon did not help him. He bought the alcohol on his own.

I do appreciate the help from the police department. He didn’t run into my truck as far as I know but I do think he got the cut from being thrown into the glass surrounding the ER.

A mother's talent

To the Editor:

A week ago, my mother Sara

June Putman passed away. She had a lot of talent. Her specialty was art - a charter member of the El Dorado Art League, now SAAC. At the arts center, she had been in three plays. Back in the 1950s, she worked for Murphy Oil Corporation; in the 1960s, Samples Department store; onward in the 1970s, Arkansas Enployment Security Division. After that, when J.C. Penney opened their store in 1976, mom went to work there. She did substitute teaching in the El Dorado Public Schools.

Later in life, she opened her Doll Hospital where she repaired and restored dolls. Then she got into porcelain doll making. A true believer of Jesus Christ. If you ever heard the song “No Charge,” I didn’t charge her for anything. Whenever I was sick, she didn’t charge me to sit up at night. She is at home with Jesus. Her parenting was paid in full.
