Trojans upend Cougars

STAMPS - Parkers Chapel’s offensive barrage continued for a third straight week, as the Trojans rolled up 388 yards of total offense en route to a 49-30 victory over Lafayette County on Friday night.

Caleb Jacobs threw for two scores and ran for another for the Trojans, who improved to 3-0 with the win.

Amonta Harris scored on touchdown runs of three and 11 yards in the victory for Parkers Chapel.

The Trojans led 14-0 at intermissi­on thanks to a 32-yard run by Jacobs and Harris’ 3-yard run.

The Cougars (0-3) dented the scoreboard early in the third quarter to cut the lead to 14-6, but the Trojans answered with Harris scoring his second touchdown of the game.

“We played a pretty complete game offensivel­y, ” said Parkers Chapel coach Jacob Midyett. “Our defense played lights out and gave us the opportunit­y to break the game open. I’m proud of the team.”

Kori Morris was one of three Trojans to have 50 or more yards rushing in the win, tallying 66 yards on 12 carries, including a 1-yard touchdown run.

Ryan Simpson had a 24-yard touchdown run, finishing with 59 yards on 11 carries.

Jacobs, who went 9-of17 passing for 172 yards with a pair of scores, led the Trojans with 74 yards on nine totes.

Jacobs fired touchdown passes of 46 yards to Canon Morgan and 50 yards to Amari Bell.
