Reminder of services

CLARA L. COLIN Memorial services for Clara L. Colin, formerly of El Dorado, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017 at St. Vestal Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

A memorial service for Larry McCurry will be held at 3 p.m. today at First United Presbyteri­an Church with Mike Dumas officiatin­g. A reception will follow the service. The family will be at 3243 Parnell Road.

EFFIE S. MONTGOMERY Services for Effie Sue Braggs-Montgomery, 64, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Spearsvill­e, Louisiana, with the Rev. Joe Watson officiatin­g. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Hill Memorial Garden in Spearsvill­e. Visitation for family will be 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel of Farmervill­e, Louisiana.

CAROLYN R. SMELTZER Carolyn Rose Smeltzer, 76, of Smackover, passed away, Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at her residence.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Young’s.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Smackover with the Rev. Adam Willett officiatin­g. Burial will follow at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

LYNDA M. BUTCHER Lynda Marie Brewer Butcher, 74, of Rison went to be with the Lord on Friday,

Sept. 15,

2017.

Mrs. Butcher was born

Dec. 30,

1942 in

Rison, to the late

Joe Oliver and Alcy Jones Brewer. She was a 1960 graduate of Rison High School. Lynda married Thomas C. Butcher Jr. on Aug. 27, 1960. They were married for 57 years. The last 17 years before retirement, they were a contract producer for Tyson Foods, operating as TomLyn Farms. Lynda spent seven years as a teacher’s aide at Rison and New Edinburgh Public Schools. She was a member of Rison Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Lynda was involved in Scouting, where she as a Den Mother and was an Assistant Explorer Advisor. She was past president of the PTA and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Lynda was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Brewer.

Mrs. Butcher is survived by her husband, Tommy Butcher Jr. of Rison; son, “Butch” Butcher of Rison; daughters, Lynn (Jeff) Wilson of Rison, and Patricia G. (Roger) Cooper of Athens, Ohio; seven grandchild­ren, Kaatie Cooper, Jac Cooper, Jacob Wilson, Anna (Stewart) Ballard, Taylor Butcher, Nathan Wilson, and Riley Butcher; great-grandson, Grady Ballard; sister, Martha (Ronald) Thompson; and sister-in-law, Barbara Jean Brewer.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017 at Rison Baptist Church with Brother Wade Totty and Brother Danny Allen officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Black Cemetery near Rison.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m., today at Rison Baptist Church.

Pallbearer­s will be David Davis, Cleve Reed, Bubba Reed, Henry Doyle Beckham, Carter Taylor, Dwight Simpson, and Ricky Fore.

BETTY GLENN Betty Glenn, 90, of El Dorado, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 at Life Touch Hospice after a brief illness.

She was born on Nov.

30, 1926 in Junction City, Arkansas. Betty was an active member of First Assembly of God for many years where she held very dear her Sunday School class. One of her many joys was cooking for her family and friends; she especially enjoyed sharing that gift with her grandchild­ren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Lonnie and Mrs. Artie Edwards of Junction City; her sisters, Mrs. Marie Powledge, and Mrs. Melba McMahan, both of El Dorado.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 71 years, Mr. Hubert Glenn of El Dorado; her sister, Mrs. Cathryn Prothro of El Dorado; her sons, Ron Glenn (wife Barbara) of Fayettevil­le, Mark Glenn (wife Nancy) of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Paul Glenn (wife Tia) of Seabrook, Texas; her grandchild­ren, Paige Arnold, Allison Townley, Adam Jones, Lynlee Critz, Bethany Aman, and Nolan Glenn; and 12 great-grandchild­ren. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church with funeral following at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Chris Cleveland and the Rev. Greg Tucker officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Home.

JUDITH C. LEYBA Judith “Judy” C. Leyba, 74, of Malvern, who formerly resided in Huttig, with her daughter, Robin Womack, entered the gates of Heaven on Sept. 17, 2017 at her home.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1942 in Malvern, to the late Norma Jean Brady and Elmer Louis Brady. She was in the restaurant business all of her life, and enjoyed being around all her family and grandchild­ren. She loved for Coby Deshazo to sing and play his guitar for her.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Lewis Wayne Brady; one daughter, Tammy Lingo; and her granddaugh­ter, Tiffany Gatlin.

Judy leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Carroll Lingo (Malvern), Robin Womack (Billie) of Huttig, Diane Echols (Curtis) of Malvern, and Bobby Lingo (Kelsey) of El Dorado; brothers, Paul Brady (Annette) of Oregon, and Kenneth Brady (Nelly) of Quitman; sisters, Anna Brady Johnson (Wayne) of El Dorado, and Linda Clausen (Hans) of Quitman; 14 grandchild­ren; 38 great-grandchild­ren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and “adopted family” who loved her dearly. She also had a former husband/best friend, Wayne Dempsey. A special thanks goes out to Maggie Wright for the many things she did to help with Judith and her family, as well.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 at Perry’s Funeral Chapels.

On behalf of the family, we would like to express our appreciati­on to Life Touch Hospice team, Oak Ridge Nursing and Rehab, Bro. Luther of Life Touch Hospice, as well as Marie Dockery, to cherish her memories.

ASHLEY N. WILSON Ashley Nicole Wilson, 22, of El Dorado, passed away on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017 in El Dorado.

She was born on Nov. 7, 1994 in Little Rock. She graduated from Smackover High School in 2013, where she participat­ed with the FFA and was a nursing student at South Arkansas Community College. She loved to dance and loved her church, where she was an active member of Parkers Chapel United Methodist Church and was a nanny.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathe­r, Robert Reddin; and a grandmothe­r, Margaret Roden.

Ashley is survived by her parents, Connie and Tracy Roden of El Dorado; three brothers, Davis Roden, Carter Roden, and Dalton Roden, all of El Dorado; four sisters, Ashley Hunter Reed and her husband, Dillon, of Magnolia, Jennifer Roden of El Dorado, Brooke Harris and her husband, Justin, of Russellvil­le, and Emily Story and her husband, Jonathan, of

Locust Bayou; grandmothe­r, Alice Kitchens of El Dorado; grandfathe­r, Winston Roden of El Dorado; aunt, Lawana Carter and her husband, Paul, of El Dorado; two uncles, James Reddin of North Carolina and Chris Roden of El Dorado; and a host of extended family

and friends.

Visitation with the family was held on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 2010 W. Hillsboro, El Dorado, AR 71730.

Funeral was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Tracy Roden and Winston Roden officiatin­g. Burial followed at Marysville Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia.

Pallbearer­s were Richard Pitre, Justin Squyres, Danny Dews, Donald Dews, Devin Coke, Ricky Willis, Chris Roden and Jordan Carnline.
