El Dorado, Greenwood to meet in Game of the Week

HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK No. 2 El Dorado at No. 1 Greenwood Winner takes command of 6A West title chase.

Greenwood beat El Dorado twice in 2016, 49-21 in the regular season and 20-3 in the quarterfin­als.

Greenwood has not lost a home game since the 2014 quarterfin­als (24-14 to El Dorado).

Greenwood trailed at halftime last week for the first time this year (17-13 at Texarkana), but rallied for a 38-17 win.

Senior quarterbac­k and University of Arkansas commit Connor Noland completed 10-of-19 passes for 157 yards and three touchdowns.

Junior Greenwood receiver Peyton Holt has emerged as a playmaker, capturing 29 passes for 423 yards and eight TDs this year.

Greenwood surrenders just 13 points per game behind senior defensive tackle John Womack (12 tackles for loss with seven sacks).

El Dorado is 4-0 for the first time since 2011 and it seeks its first conference title since 2013.

The Wildcats forced five turnovers last week in a 35-13 win over Lake Hamilton.

Defensive end Donovan Walter returned a fumble 94 yards for a TD and safety Kameron Buie intercepte­d two passes.

El Dorado is road-tested, having already won at Class 7A Cabot (28-24 Week 2).

6A East Mountain Home at PINE BLUFF (24): Pine Bluff quarterbac­k Tyler Foots threw four touchdown passes to three receivers last week in a 60-6 win over Hall.

Jonesboro outgained Mountain Home 446-224 in a 42-7 win. Pine Bluff bested Mountain Home 36-0 in 2016.

Pine Bluff's prodigious team speed eases it past Mountain Home.

Jacksonvil­le at JONESBORO (21): Jonesboro led Mountain Home 28-0 at halftime Week 4.

Jonesboro QBs Tyson Williams and A.J. Aycock combine for 179 yards passing per week (15 yards per pass). Jonesboro rushes for 280 yards per week.

Five Jonesboro receivers have recorded 100 yards receiving or more this year.

Jacksonvil­le limited Searcy's Mason

Schucker (325 yards per game) to 13-of-25 passing for 191 yards and two TDs with an intercepti­on last week. Jacksonvil­le playmaker Shawn Ellis ran 99 yards for a TD last week.

West Memphis at SEARCY (3): Searcy has won five straight games over West Memphis by a combined 18 points. Searcy scores 49 points per game, while West Memphis surrenders just 14 points weekly.

Three West Memphis starters (receiver Steven Stone, running back Quincy Marshall and defensive end Mark Robinson), were ejected from last week's 37-27 win over Marion and could be suspended Friday night.

West Memphis is 4-0 for the first time since 2011, but Marion senior quarterbac­k Jacob Green completed 24-of-36 passes for 346 yards and three TDs last week.

Searcy counters with senior QB Mason Schucker, who has thrown for 1,297 yards and 20 TDs with four intercepti­ons in 2017.

MARION (17) at Hall: Marion senior QB Jacob Green has passed for 979 yards and nine TDs with two INTs the past three weeks.

Reliable Marion receiver Ryan Robins has caught nine passes for 99 yards and two TDs the past two weeks against Class 5A Blythevill­e and West Memphis.

Last week against West Memphis, Marion produced a season-best 483 yards. Hall has lost three straight since a Week 1 victory over Class 5A Fair. In that span, opponents outscore the Warriors 50-12.

BENTON (24) at Siloam Springs: Benton sophomore receiver Gavin Wells completed seven of nine passes for 111 yards and a TD in relief of injured junior QB Colin Morrow last week in a 42-20 win over Russellvil­le.

Benton produced 507 yards of offense and allowed just 279. Benton led 35-7 in the fourth quarter. Siloam Springs escaped Sheridan 31-24 last week behind QB Landon Ellis' four TD passes. Benton whipped Siloam Springs 63-0 in 2016.

TEXARKANA (2) at Lake Hamilton: Lake Hamilton has won seven straight meetings with Texarkana. Lake Hamilton has lost the past two weeks (to El Dorado and Class 7A Bryant) by a combined 91-20.

Texarkana led Greenwood 17-13 at halftime a week ago, but was shut out in the second half of a 38-17 loss.

Texarkana receiver Irijah Price caught eight passes for 123 yards and a TD against Greenwood. Lake Hamilton surrenders 291 passing yards per game, while Texarkana averages 202 passing yards weekly.

Sheridan at RUSSELLVIL­LE (17): Russellvil­le led Benton 7-0 last week, but Benton responded with 35 unanswered points. Ryan Talley completed 10-of-18 passes for 89 yards and two TDs against Benton.

Russellvil­le QBs have not thrown an INT this year. Sheridan set season-bests in points (24) and total offense (401 yards) last week in a 31-24 loss to Siloam Springs.

Sheridan's previous season-high was 13 points and 233 yards the previous week.
