MusicFest XXX continues with acts on Union Square

Music will fill every corner of the Union Square District today as MusicFest XXX joins the third day of the grand opening celebratio­n of the Murphy Arts District.

Presented by Main Street El Dorado and Murphy USA, MusicFest starts at 11 a.m. today and will conclude Sunday, the last day of the MAD celebratio­n.

MAD kicked off its grand opening Wednesday night with a private event featuring Lyle Lovett and rolled through Thursday with performanc­es by Natasha Bedingfiel­d and Train in the Griffin Music Hall.

The celebratio­n will pick up tonight with shows starting at 6 p.m. with the Robert Randolph Band, followed by X-Amabassado­rs at 7:30 p.m., ZZ Top at 9 p.m., and Ludacris at 11:30 p.m.

Ludacris will perform in the Griffin Music Hall, while the other concerts will take place in the MAD amphitheat­er.

The shows are ticketed events. Tickets may be purchased by calling MAD at 870863-4547.

The MAD performers will also serve as the headliners for the pearl anniversar­y of MusicFest.

However, music lovers will not have to wait until nighttime to get the party started.

In addition to food, craft vendors and expanded activities and attraction­s, MusicFest will also feature local and regional acts that will bring a variety of musical styles to two stages.

Many have previously graced MusicFest stages.

Shows will start at 11 a.m. in Corrine Court. Admission is free for MusicFest and the musical performanc­es.

The schedule for the Corrine CourtDelek Acoustic stage is:

• 11 a.m., Bethany Raybourn (indie Americana, alt-country).

• 12 p.m., Monty Russell (country, honky-tonk, blues)

• 2 p.m., Beaux Atkins (southern)

• 3:30 p.m., Dave Almond (country, blues).

• 5 p.m., Buddy Flett (blues)

For the Union Square-PJ’s Coffee Stage, acts include:

• 12 p.m., Age of Man (blues, R&B).

• 1:30 p.m., deFrance (rock, country rock, southern rock)

• 3 p.m., Mary-Heather and the Sinners (country and classic rock)

• 4:30 p.m., Dash Rip Rock (indie rock, roots rock, southern rock, alternativ­e, etc.).

• 6:30 p.m., Moonshine Mafia (blues, country, rock and roll).

• 8:30 p.m., Alchemy (rock, alternativ­e, blues).

Attraction­s and activities MusicFest attraction­s and activities will start at noon today with the Bermuda Black Zipline, Air Jump Extreme Bungee, Extreme Laser Tag, and the mobile video game station.

The activities are $5 each today.

The Budweiser beer garden will open at 5 p.m. today.

MusicFest is also partnering with Victory Church, 1432 N. West Ave., to provide a paid childcare service.

The cost is $25 per child and includes food, drinks, snacks, an indoor playground, inflatable­s, games and crafts.

Parents may park at Victory and take a free shuttle service to MusicFest.
