Union County Master Gardeners announce annual bulb sale

-

The annual Union County Master Gardeners have announced that their Sixth Annual Bulb Sale will be held from 9 a.m. until noon Oct. 21 at the South Arkansas Arboretum.

“Union County Master Gardeners will be offering a selection of bulbs chosen especially for our area as well as a few bulbs and plants dug from Master Gardeners’ personal gardens,” said Barbie Luther, a member of the Union County Master Gardeners.

“This year’s sale will include 27 different varieties including nine different tulips. We will have the popular hyacinth ‘Blue Jacket,’ anemones, crocus, alliums, seven different daffodils and bulbs to make a beautiful spring display. Master Gardeners will be at the sale to assist with your bulb choices and to answer your gardening questions. Master Gardener Sharon Traylor will be demonstrating layering bulbs in containers and there will be several potted containers for sale,” Luther said.

Funds raised at the annual bulb sale will be used to fund our annual Dirt Friends Festival. The 2018 Dirt Friends Festival is scheduled for March 10 and “will feature our own Master Gardener Coordinator Janet Carson and popular garden personality Chris Olsen,” she said.

Union County Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who work under the umbrella of the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service on horticulture education projects and beautification.
