BONNIE R. CATES
Bonnie Ray Cates, 86, of El Dorado passed away October 14, 2017 at Ruston Long Term Acute Care facility after a brief illness. He was born March 28, 1931 in Union County, AR., to Willie Leonard and Jessie Mae Edwards Cates.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated a full service gas station. He was a Mason, a deacon and Sunday school secretary at Union Baptist Church. Bonnie loved his family, church, sports (especially girl’s softball), woodworking and the Arkansas Razorbacks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Elton and Odie Cates; sister, Melba Wagnon and son, Leonard Monroe Cates.
Survivors are his loving wife of 64 years, Edna Louise Eubanks Cates; daughters, Toni Barnett (Jim) and Cindy Woolsey of El Dorado; son, Billy Cates (Carolyn) of Tuscaloosa, AL.; ten grandchildren, Madeline, Lauren, Jac Cates of Pensacola, FL., Tyler Cates (Rosemarie) of San Diego, CA., Michael Sayers (Jessica) of Mellette, SD., Stephanie Bronson (Krista) of Shreveport, LA., Ben Cates (Megan) of Denver, CO., Mary Ann Woolsey Thompson, Anthony Woolsey, Thomas Woolsey (Kaci) of El Dorado; six great grandchildren, Liam Aguilar and Rydian Cates of San Diego, CA., Kali and Lexi Bronson, Abigail Thompson, Echo Shields all of El Dorado and Robert Brantley Woolsey due November 2017.
Memorial service will be at 10am Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Union Baptist Church 144 Crain City Rd. El Dorado.

THOMAS J. DAVIS
Thomas Jerry Davis, 73, of El Dorado, passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.
He was born Aug. 27,
1944, to William Harvey and Ruby Martin Davis in Hampton.
Jerry worked as a self-employed milkman, delivering for Borden Milk for 25 years and Colonial Bread for 23 years. He was a member of
West Side Baptist Church.
Jerry was a Veteran of the
Army Reserves.
Preceding him in death were his loving wife, Jane Cecelia Davis, who he married Nov. 27, 1964; his parents; and daughter, Jennifer Davis.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, William Scott Davis; daughter, Jeri Lyn Lee, both of El Dorado; grandchildren, Tyler Davis (Whitney) of Norphlet, Jordan Lee, Josh Lee, both of Little Rock, Brooklyn Bolin of El Dorado; brother, Jackie Davis of Hampton; and mother-in-law, Lucille Ivy of El Dorado.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, at Young’s.
Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at West Side Baptist Church with the Rev. Cody Lain and Gary Don Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Earnest Cemetery in Calhoun County under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

EDITH P. FEDDERSON
Edith P. Fedderson, 94, of El Dorado, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017 at her home.
Born Jan. 10, 1923 in Clearwater, Kansas, she was the daughter of
Harry Whitbeck and Opel
Bruner.
She met and married her husband while both were living and working in Colorado.
They were married for 60 years. In 1964, Murphy Oil transferred her family to
London, England. While living in England, Edith and her husband had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the world. They returned to El Dorado in 1974.
The last few years, Alzheimer’s robbed her of her personally, but during this time there were glimpses of her wonderful sense of humor. She was an impeccable dresser with her own sense of style. Edith was a homemaker, who enjoyed cooking, sewing and entertaining. She was a member of the El Dorado Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf and bridge.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and three of her five siblings.
Survivors are her daughter, Kathryn (Bill) Vincent of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Patricia (John) Seybold, Frankfort, Kentucky; along with her grandchildren, Kelly Vincent of Seattle, Washington, Scott (Leah) Vincent of Tulsa, and Dylan Marsh of Scottsdale, Arizona; and a great-granddaughter, Luna Vincent.
A memorial service by Young’s Funeral Directors will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 in the Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado with the Rev. David Stipp-Bethune officiating.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at South Arkansas Personnel Services for the care that they provided for Edith.

FLORENCE GORMAN Florence Gorman, age 97, of El Dorado, AR, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado, AR. She was born
June 3, 1920, at Ingalls, AR, a daughter of the late Grady
Vickers and Virginia Sharp
Vickers. Florence was a retired bookkeeper for O.H. Gorman Poultry Transport, she was a great biscuit maker, a wonderful mother and a member of Immanuel
Baptist Church in El Dorado,
AR. She married Holyan Gorman December 24, 1938, in Ingalls, AR and he died July 9, 1986.
Survivors are two daughters, Margaret Anne Combs and spouse, Larry, and Helen Deloris Schroeder and spouse, Harry (Deceased), all of El Dorado, AR; three brothers, Frank Vickers and spouse, Mary, of Dumas, AR, Dan Vickers and spouse, Joyce, of Ingalls, AR and Bobby Vickers and spouse, Sue, of Crossett, AR; one sister, Margie Du Bose and spouse, Perry (Deceased), of Ingalls, AR; three grandchildren, Mea Combs and spouse, Marvin Campbell, Lorri Gillis Shaw and spouse, Kelvin Shaw, and Peppermint Combs Rushing and spouse, Robert; five great-grandchildren, Melissa Rushing Compton, Connor Sparr, Price Campbell, Kara Rushing and Josh Rushing; four
great-great-grandchildren, Kinley Rushing, Liv Compton, Keaton Rushing and Ziggy Compton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Vickers and George Thomas Vickers and two sisters, Christine Morgan and Doris Glasgow.

MILLIE J. HARRIS
Millie Jo Harris, 90, of Parkers Chapel, formerly of Hot Springs, peacefully entered her eternal home surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at the John R. Williamson Life Touch Hospice.
She was born on Dec. 22,
1926, in Monroe, Arkansas, to Lester D. Ball and Geneva
Ball.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Carrol D. Harris.
She is survived by her son,
Jim (Debbie) Harris of Redfield; daughter, Sandy (John) Gross of Parkers Chapel; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Trafton Ball and L.D. Ball; sister, Corinne Wilson; and two grandchildren, Carrie Elizabeth Harris and Corrie Gross Bechtelheimer.
After graduating from Wynne High School, she attended Arkansas State University majoring in business. She was a bookkeeper for Reid-Holcomb Construction Company in Indianapolis, Indiana, for 10 years before moving to Hot Springs where she was the bookkeeper and office manager for K-Mart. She retired from K-Mart after more than 30 years of loyal service. While in Hot Springs, she was active in the Elks Lodge Women’s Organization, Belles and Beaus, Pilot Club, and she attended First Baptist Church. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Parkers Chapel to be closer to her family. She attended Immanuel Baptist Church and was a member of Alpha Xi Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha. She loved spending time playing cards and bunko with her family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Young’s Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, at the Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery with Brother Jimmy Meek officiating.

DANNY R. MAJOR
Danny went to join his Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, Oct. 15, 2017.
Danny Rollan Major was born on March 4, 1958 in El Dorado, to Ann Lee Springfield and Harold
Rollan Major.
He graduated from Istrouma High School in 1976, where he was a member of the Nawagantia Indian Dancers. Danny then began his career in the service industry which included working for Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 6 years, Pepsi Americas, Inc. for 6 years, Baton Rouge Beverage Company for 18 years and the last 15 years for Community Coffee Company, where he recently received recognition for his 15 year commitment.
Danny was heavily involved with the Men’s Club of Most Blessed Sacrament
Catholic Church in Baton Rouge. He was also an active member of Istrouma Baptist Church as well as the Kiwanis Christmas Festivities. Danny was very outgoing and never met a stranger. No matter what the circumstances, you always knew when Danny entered the room, from his bright smile or a hug to his ability to crack the sometimes inappropriate joke just when you needed to hear it. Danny was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and loved being in the woods. Anyone that had the opportunity to hunt with Danny has many treasured stories that always bring tears of laughter. He was the first to arrive and the last to leave and would keep you laughing the whole time. Anytime you called for help he was always there, no matter what you needed day or night. Danny took pride in all of his charitable work, but one of his most treasured activities was playing the role of Santa for kids through the Kiwanis Club.
Additionally Danny loved committing to the MBS co-ed softball team each summer for the past 22 years where he was considered highly competitive among his team mates and had been given the name “Pops.”
Danny is survived by his wife of 30 years, Suzi Case Major; three children, Danny R. Major Jr. (Shanna), Bradley Joseph Major, and Heather Noel Major; siblings, Faye Morris, Gary Major (Kim), Gene Springfield (Renee), Kim Nichols (Karl), and Jim Major (Connie); mother, Ann Lee Springfield; grandchildren, Jeremy McKnight and Drew Zachary; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Danny was preceded in death by his grandfather, Garland Richard Major; grandmother, Unie Mae Jerry Major; father, Harold Rollan Major; grandfather, Havis (Jack) Lee; grandmother, Mary Elise Lee; and a brother Ronnie Lynn Springfield.
Pallbearers will be Eric Major, Blake Major, Toney Case, Mark Mains, Patrick Yarborough, and Ricky Duncan.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Brian McKnight, the staff of the Ochsner Emergency Room, EMS, St. George Fire Department, and the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department.

Visitation will be at Istrouma Baptist Church, from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19; continued visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at noon on Friday, Oct. 20, officiated by Dr. Jeff Ginn, lead pastor, Istrouma Baptist Church.
Interment will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home.
