HAROLD CHAPPEL Funeral for Harold Chappel, 64, of Magnolia, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at Antioch Baptist Church, Magnolia. Burial will follow at Kings Hill Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Service. Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. DORA A. BOWEN Dora A. Bowen, 76, passed away peacefully Oct. 28, 2017, at St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Born Aug. 15, 1941, in Camden, Arkansas, where she lived in Louann, Arkansas, to the age of 18, then moving with her family to Las Vegas.

She began her college education in Nevada, then moved to Michigan, where she attended Lansing Community College while also being employed there as a budget analyst.

Over the next 40 years, she was employed at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, as an associate director of budget

& financing, then moving to Lyons College in Batesville, Arkansas, in the financial department. Then she moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she was employed at the private liberal arts college, Santa Fe College.

After her retirement, she returned to Las Vegas to care for her mother Louise Horan until her death in 2015.

She enjoyed traveling over the world, after a cruise in Europe she had planned another trip next year. She loved studying, learning new things and her love of cooking. So she enrolled in the Le Cordon Bleu Cooking and was very proud to receive her degree upon graduation. She loved her gourmet cooking.

Dora is preceded in death by her mother, Louise Horan a brother W. C. “Dub” Bowen, Jr.

She is survived by her sister, Vicki Smith of Las Vegas, and an aunt Neva Harwell of Little Rock, Arkansas, two nephews, Marvin and Steven Smith of Las Vegas.

She is also survived by one grand nephew, Matthew Smith, and grand nieces Caitlin and Ciera Smith, greatgrand nephew Theodore “Teddy” Smith.

The family is very grateful to Yolanda Bolanos for the help given to Dora the past year.

Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 2 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Memorial service to be Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. at Palm Henderson Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson, Nevada. Burial will follow at Palm Henderson Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials take the form of contributi­ons and donations to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

CECIL LOWERY Cecil “Ray” Lowery took his heavenly Father’s hand as he heard the angels calling him to his heavenly home on Sunday,

Oct. 29, 2017. There he was greeted by his late wife of 40 years, Pam Lowery; his parents, Cecil Wayne Lowery and Virginia Thomas Lowery; paternal grandparen­ts, John Alexander and Susie Lowery; father-in-law, Daniel Clyde Jones of Texas; maternal grandparen­ts, Dan Stevens Thomas and Rachel Stark Thomas and most recently his brother, John D. Lowery.

Ray was born in El Dorado on June 29, 1955. He was a one of a kind, they don’t make them like him anymore. You always knew what was on his mind, Ray was a hard worker and worked for Lion Oil for 21 years as a pump mechanic before becoming disabled. He was an avid outdoors man. If he wasn’t working, he was hunting or on a fishing trip with his cousin and best friend growing up, Alan Lowery. Ray’s number one love in life was his family, they came before anything else. Family left to cherish his memory are his son Justin Lowery (Andrea) and his daughter, Rebecca Fife (Josh) all of El Dorado; his grandchild­ren who were the pride and joy of his life, Jace Lowery, Madilyn Lowery, Brooklyn Hearne, Sy Fife an Paisley Fife; one brother, David Lowery of Maumelle, Arkansas, and one sister, Terri Hall (Rob) of El Dorado; Numerous nieces and nephews; Uncle Bobby and Aunt Martha Faye Grisby of Arizona; brothers-in-law, Randy Jones and Ricky Jones; sister-in-law Vicky Ogerly (Wendall); and mother-inlaw, Evelyn D. Jones all of Texas; a host of friends as well as his very close friend, Rusty Hodges.

Visitation was held last night, Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Perry’s Funeral Chapels.

Services will be held today, Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Parkers Chapel at 2 p.m. with Bro. Larry Hudson officiatin­g.

Interment to follow at Parkers Chapel Cemetery.

REBECCA MOORE Mrs. Rebecca Roberson Moore, of Elm Grove, Louisiana, formerly of El Dorado, Arkan-sas, passed away on Monday,

Oct. 30,

2017 at the age of 77.

Rebecca graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1958 and went on to attend Ouachita Baptist College, where she earned a degree in music. She spent most of her life in El Dorado, where she was a school teacher and business owner. During her time in El Dorado, she was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and the church pianist for 40 years. She enjoyed riding and showing Tennessee Walking Horses as well.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, George P. Moore, Sr. of Elm Grove, Louisiana; her two daughters, Christine Roberson Street (Scott), Dana Roberson Pyron (Donald); her siblings, Ruby Miller of Melbourne, Arkansas, Doyne Robertson (Martha) of Melbourne, Arkansas, Ruth Carneal (Raymon) of Calico Rock, Arkansas, and Rachel Mathis (Mike) of Bartlett, Tennessee; seven grandchild­ren; five step-grandchild­ren; and six step great-grandchild­ren.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at Memorial Baptist Chapel, 301 McDade, in Elm Grove, Louisiana, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, you may send donations in Rebecca’s name to Memorial Baptist Chapel or to Regional Hospice Care Group of NW Louisiana, 8660 Fern Ave., Suite 145, Shreveport, LA 71105.

SUSAN S. SMITH Susan Sionne Smith, 69 of El Dorado, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at her home in El Dorado.

Smith, who preceded her in death.

Susan was a former resident of Houston, Texas, where she was a legal secretary.

She received her associate’s degree from SAU, and attended East Main Baptist Church in El Dorado.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 at the Arlington Memorial Park with Bro. Rob Smith officiatin­g. Interment will be in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, El Dorado.

Survivors include her brother, Jonathan G. “Bubba” Smith of El Dorado; one sister, Vicky Smith Rohm and husband Mike of Kenner, Louisiana; aunt, Helen Cherry of El Dorado; three nieces, Amy Ethridge LeBlanc, Maggie Ethridge and Ryan Causey; and Amber Smith Michael and Kyle, six great nephews and one great niece.

The family will be at Bubba Smith’s residence.
