Union County Single Parent Scholarshi­p recipients announced

The Union County Single Parent Scholarshi­p Fund Board of Directors met recently and selected scholarshi­p recipients for the fall 2017 semester. A total of 41 awards were given.

The number and amount of scholarshi­ps awarded each semester depends on the funds available. Funds are received from various sources including the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarshi­p Fund, local donors and community organizati­ons.

Scholarshi­ps were awarded to South Arkansas Community college students Glamara Aubrey, Andrea Brown, Shaneqar Carter, Amanda Daniels, Kyla Davis, LaChunda Davis, Allison Dolden, Shonte Gaines, Hannah Green, Taresa Haynes, Mayia Hicks, Hermina Howe, Madison Hudson, Natasha Jackson, Kenetria Johnson, Tamara Langston, Tonetta McDuffie, Katherine McElveen, Shaneice Meadors, Alexis Miller, Julie Osgood, Victoria Osgood, Mary Owens, Chelsea Phillips, Lauren Ponthieux, Brittany Redding, Adriana Serrano, Ashlynn Sisk, Kourtney Smith, Ju-Raven Stephens, Yasmeen Stockman, Melissa Stokes, Precious Tubbs and Jennifer Ward.

A scholarshi­p was awarded to Arkansas Tech University student Shanna Calloway.

A scholarshi­p was awarded to National Park College student Adriana Villegas.

Scholarshi­ps were awarded to Southern Arkansas University college students Bethany Billings, Jasmine Ferguson, Latosha Gatson and LaTanya Glaspie.

A scholarshi­p was awarded to SAU Tech student Nahi Murphy.

To be eligible, one must live in Union County, be enrolled in any college or university and be a single parent providing support of a dependent child or children under the age of 18 in the household.

For more informatio­n about donating to the scholarshi­p fund or applying for a scholarshi­p, contact the Financial Aid Office at South Arkansas Community College at 870864-7150. Deadline for the spring 2018 semester is Feb. 1, 2018.
