Raytheon and Armtec award contract work for the US and UK
Raytheon in Camden is scheduled to begin work on its portion of a $260 million contract for missiles for the United States and the United Kingdom, according to a news source.
Also, Armtec of Camden will soon start work on a $12,580,000 contract for countermeasure flares for the U.S.
According to Defenseworld.net, “Raytheon is being awarded $260 million modification contract for procurement of 196 Tomahawk Block IV all-up-round vertical launch system missiles and spares in support of the US Navy and United Kingdom.”
According to the company, nearly 10 percent of that work will be done in Camden.
In addition, this modification provides for the procurement of spare parts and support for the government of the United Kingdom. Work is expected to be completed in August 2019, the U.S. Department of Defense said in a statement.
In April 2017, U.S. Navy destroyers launched 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at targets on a Syrian air base, according to the statement. In 2014, a U.S. Navy destroyer and a guided missile cruiser launched 47 Tomahawk missiles in a strike on the Islamic State terrorist group in Syria.
Regarding the Armtec contract, Armtec Countermeasures Co. in Coachella, California, has been awarded a $12,580,000 firm-fixedprice contract action modification (P00004) to a previously awarded (FA8213-16-C-0027) for contract deliverable MJU-53/B aircraft countermeasure flare, according to a news release.
Work will be performed in Camden, with an expected completion date of Nov. 30, 2019.
The contract also provides for the exercise of an option for an additional quantity of 200,000 units being produced under the basic contract.
