Smackover downs Bearden 29-11

SMACKOVER - The Jr. Lady Bucks beat Bearden 29-11 on Tuesday.

Laylah Gatson led Smackover with 10 points and five rebounds. Adriana Grant added five points.

Kassidy Caesar and Leilani Victorian each scored three for the Lady Bears.

Bearden won the junior boys game 38-23. TeeJay Modica led the Bucks with seven.

Zion Waller scored 14 for the Bears while Kendrick Juniel added 13.

Tori Bates had six points for the Lady Warriors, who were downed in their season opener.

STRONG - The Jr. Bulldogs rallied from a 21-point halftime deficit but the Trojans hit free throws down the stretch to pull out the victory on Tuesday.

Parkers Chapel led 30-9 at the half. Behind a flurry of 3-pointers, the Bulldogs tied the game at 43-43 on a 3-pointer by Emauri Newton with 2:16 left to play.

But, Lane Clark scored on a drive for the Trojans, who then hit two technical free throws with 1:08 remaining. PC ended the game on a 7-0 run. Clark led the Trojans with 12 points. Newton scored 23 and Caleb Chambers added 14 for Strong. Garrett Memorial 36,

West Side Christian 21

Ashton Yarbrough had 10 points for the Warriors, who saw their record fall to 1-1 on the season.

PC TEAMS ADVANCE AT HAMPTON HAMPTON - Parkers Chapel's junior high boys basketball team advanced at the Hampton Junior High Tournament with a 38-33 win over Smackover on Monday.

Trace Shoup and Evan Younger had nine points apiece for the Trojans, while Austin Looney chipped in with seven points.

Parkers Chapel's junior high girls also moved on, topping Bearden 36-17.

Taylor Fortune had nine points, while Ali Looney finished with eight points for the Lady Trojans (2-0.) BARTON SEVENTH-GRADE BOYS COMPETE Barton's seventh-grade boys basketball team started the season by splitting their first two games.

The Wildkitten­s outlasted Nevada County 28-27, as Torenzo Dunn scored 14 points and Martez Singleton added eight points.

On Monday, Camden Fairview downed the Wildkitten­s 37-29.

Orlando Hampton and Laronte McHenry had 11 points apiece for Barton.
