SouthArk slated to start shooting team

South Arkansas Community College will start a shooting sports team in the spring semester, and will be one of the only colleges in the area to offer such an activity.

The skeet and trap shooting competitio­n squad will require full-time enrollment for the spring semester, which begins on Jan. 10.

The team is seeking not only participan­ts, but also sponsors.

Junction City trio picks up accolades

Junction City will be well-represente­d at the Farm Bureau Insurance Awards.

Running back Hishmma Taylor, linebacker Terrell Gibson and coach Steven Jones were all recently named as finalists for 3A Offensive Player of the Year, 3A Defensive Player of the Year and 3A Coach of the Year respective­ly.

The event will be held in North Little Rock later this month.

Christian youth hoops league set to begin

The Christian Youth Basketball League is accepting registrati­ons.

Games will be played at Family Life Center at Norphlet First Baptist Church. Sign-up sheets can be picked up at the church office, located at 201 S. Main, or the Norphlet Public Library.

This is a faith based league that features equal playing time and devotions at practice and halftime.

Divisions are kindergart­en-second, third and fourth and fifth and sixth grades.

The fee is $35 until December 29. After that date, the fee will be $40.
