Goodwin powers Parkers Chapel past Crossett 68-47

HAMBURG - Dawson Goodwin had 21 points to lead a balanced attack, as Parkers Chapel knocked off Crossett 68-47 to cap play in the Hamburg Classic on Friday.

The Trojans trailed 16-13 after one period of play, but outscored the Eagles 17-8 in the second period to take a 30-24 lead at intermissi­on.

The Trojans then blew the game open by outscoring the Eagles 23-11 in the third period to extend their lead to 53-35 before winning by the final margin.

In addition to Goodwin, Nate Garrett-Evans had 16 points, while Amari Bell added 13 points and Isaiah Brown finished with 10 points.

Parkers Chapel improves to 10-2 with the victory, and the Trojans will be back in action on Thursday when they take on Smackover in a battle of Union County rivals at the Hampton Tournament.

GIRLS MONTICELLO 62, JUNCTION CITY 41

MONTICELLO - The Lady Billies extended a 10-point lead after the opening period to a 16-point edge at intermissi­on before winning by the final margin in Class 3A-4A District 12 action on Thursday.

Jada Archie led the Lady Dragons (4-3, 1-1) with 15 points.

Bryanna Raye added nine points, while Jhonda Webster had eight points and Taykeetria Rogers finished with seven points for Junction City.

In the junior girls game, Monticello topped Junction City 36-4.

Breyun Meadows and Tori McLelland had two points apiece for Junction City.

The Lady Dragons return to action next Thursday when they take on Crossett in the opening round of the Hampton Tournament.
