Jacquelyn LaRae Anders, age 53, passed away on Dec. 29, 2017 at her residence.

Jacquelyn was born in Mayville, North Dakota on Dec. 22,

1964, the daughter of

Ronald E. Parker Sr. and Mary Ellen Parker.

Preceding her in death are her parents; aunt, Flossie Dell

Parker.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Kenneth

BILLIE JO CROSSLEY

Billie Jo Crossley, age 89, passed away on Jan. 2, 2018 at Oak Ridge Nursing Home.

Jo was born in Hampton, on June 17, 1928, the daughter of Bill Parker and Lillian Parker. She was a long time member of Lawson Baptist Church, serving as church clerk of 42 years.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, John Edward Crossley; daughter, Deborah Crossley; sister, Retta Gill.

Those left to cherish her memories are her son, Johnny Bill Crossley (Carolyn); daughter, Mary Lynn Hill (Mike); sister, Bobbie Barner; grandchild­ren, Amber Hill, Megan Jordan (Clay); step grandchild­ren, Tim Porter and Todd Porter; great-grandchild­ren, Michael McLeese, Levi Jordan; five step great grandchild­ren; step great great grandchild; one special niece Pam Morris.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at Perry’s Funeral Chapels.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at Lawson Baptist Church with the Rev. Donnie Travis and Elder Myron Ford officiatin­g.

Serving as pallbearer­s are Clay Jordan, Gary Misenheime­r, Billy Bob Moudy, Kenny Webb, Roy Black, and Walter Reed. Honorary pallbearer­s are Thad Hill and John L. Stegall.

DONALD R. DELK

Donald Roy Delk, age 86, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family, on Dec. 27, 2017 at his home in Knoxville, Tennessee.

He was born on Jan.

31, 1931 in Norphlet, to Vance Truman and

Mabel Ozella Sempe

Delk. He graduated from Norphlet High

School in 1949. He enlisted in the Army several years later and served in the Korean

War from 1951 to 1953, where he was honorably discharged. After returning from the war, he met the love of his life, Bettye Little, and they married on Sept. 18, 1954. Donald began work with Gulf Oil Corporatio­n in Marked Tree, Arkansas for several years and then relocated to El Dorado, where he became the Gulf Oil Distributo­r until his retirement in 1981. After leaving Gulf Oil, Donald became the manager of Worsham Wholesale for a number of years before he permanentl­y retired. Donald and Bettye lived nearly all of their married life together in El Dorado where they raised their three children and were active members of the Gethsemane Baptist Church. Donald was ordained as a deacon on August 6, 1961 in Marked Tree, Arkansas and served as a deacon at Second Baptist Church and Gethsemane Baptist Church in El Dorado until a few years ago, due to health reasons.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Jack Delk (Betty Jo) and Kenneth Delk, son-in-law Bryan Womack, niece Delaine Kelley, and his wife of 63 years, Bettye Faye Little Delk. He is survived by his daughter Melissa Cain (Walt) of Addis, Louisiana, son Jeffrey Delk of Nashville, Tennessee, daughter Lori Zepeda (Manuel) of Knoxville, Tennessee, brother Billy Delk (Rowanne) of Longview, Texas, and sister Jo Kelley of Pine Bluff. He has five grandchild­ren; Jonathan Womack of Amberg, Germany, Jennifer Womack of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jackson Slaid of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Ashley Zepeda of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Amanda Zepeda of Cincinnati, Ohio. Nieces and nephews are Steven Delk, Becky Spedden, Diane Johns, Amy Burnett, Ray Delk, Randall Kelley, and sister-in-law Carolyn Delk Ross. A memorial service will be held at Gethsemane Baptist Church on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 1 p.m. followed with burial at Rest Haven Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearer­s will be Jonathan Womack, Jackson Slaid, Manuel Zepeda, Bill Hanna, Jimmy Ricks, Hubert Owens, with Ralph Patterson and Otis McCroskey serving as honorary pallbearer­s.

MELVIN ELMORE

Melvin Elmore, 59, of El Dorado passed on Dec. 29, 2017. He was born Aug. 18, 1958 to Newt and Fannie Elmore. At an early age he was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church in Lillie, Louisiana.

Melvin was a graduate of Junction City High School. He received a four

year scholarshi­p to Grambling State University where he played college football. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks and later Melvin joined the U.S. Navy in 1980 where he was active duty for fifteen years.

He is survived by: his former wife, Dorothy Elmore of Atlanta, Georgia; brother, Dexter Elmore of Grambling, Louisiana; daughters, Yolanda Garrett of Hinesville, Georgia, Ramona Tubbs of Atlanta, Georgia, and Tamara Elmore of Decatur, Georgia; five grandchild­ren and two great grandchild­ren.

Public visitation will be Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 from 1 until 4:30 p.m. at Sims Mortuary. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at Sims Mortuary. Cremation services are provided by Sims Mortuary. Sign the guestbook online at www. simsmortua­ry.com.

ANNIE L. GARDNER

Annie Lois Gardner, 91, of Strong died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at MCSA. She was born on April 2, 1926 in Strong to Noah Wainwright and Molly Johnson Wainwright.

She was a graduate of Gardner High School in Strong. She was a retired housekeepe­r with Best Western/King’s Inn. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Strong, where she served on the Usher Board and in the City Wide Usher Union.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, B.J. Gardner. Survivors are; one son, Dr. W.L. Gardner of Camden; three grandchild­ren and three great grandchild­ren.

Funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Dr. W.L. Gardner officiatin­g.

Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery on New London Road under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home. Public viewing will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Andrews.
