Pitch, hit and run event set for Saturday
The El Dorado Jaycees will host the Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run on Saturday, February 17, at the Boys & Girls Club B-League Field beginning at 2 p.m.
The B-League Field is directly across W. Eighth Street from the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium. Sign-in begins at 1:30 p.m., and a copy of each participant's birth certificate is required to compete. Parents must be present to complete a liability waiver.
This is a free one-day event for boys and girls ages 7-14. It is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball.
Participants compete in either the Baseball Division or Softball Division and have the opportunity to advance through four levels of competition, including locals, sectionals, team championships and the national finals at the MLB All-Star Game.
Each participant will compete in three different categories offered through the event.
There is a pitching session (five throw attempts), timed on running through second base and hitting off a tee with accuracy deducted from distance, within their respected gender and age groups.
