Strong takes on Rison in regular season finale.

STRONG - Dynasty Davis scored 22 of her 28 points in the second half, as Strong closed out the regular season with a 52-30 win over Rison in Class 1A-2A District 16 action on Thursday night.

In the nightcap, the Bulldogs finished off a sweep of the Wildcats with an 82-66 victory.

The sweep of the Wildcats was the second this week, as the schools played on Monday at Rison.

Kiki Shelton was also in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs (18-5, 10-2) with 11 points.

Amaya Smith finished with eight points for Strong, who outscored Rison 20-5 in the third quarter to take control of the contest.

Of her 22 second-half points, Davis scored 14 in the final stanza.

In the boys game, four players accounted for 80 of Strong's 82 points.

After scoring 25 points in Monday's win at Rison, Derrion Davis scored 31 points to lead the Bulldogs (11-13, 6-6).

Jadarrius Dixon had 21 points, while Trey Smith added 15 points and Desmond Newton chipped in with 13 points in the win.

Although the Bulldogs won by double figures, they didn't pull away until the fourth quarter.

Strong led 23-20 after the opening period before taking a 39-34 edge into halftime.

Strong led 56-51 after three periods before outscoring Rison 26-15 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

In the junior boys game, Rison knocked off Strong 43-29.

Emauri Newton led Strong with 12 points. Next up for Strong is the district tournament, which begins next week.
