Pine Hills to host golf tourney next month

Pine Hills Country Club will host the Triple Threat Golf Tournament on March 10-11.

The format is six holes of scramble, six holes of best ball and six holes of alternate shot.

The two-person tournament cost is $120 per team with a maximum of 60 teams.

A meal will be served on Saturday night after the first day of the event.

El Dorado Jaycees set to host competition

The El Dorado Jaycees will host the Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run on Saturday, February 17, at the Boys & Girls Club B-League Field beginning at 2 p.m.

Sign-in begins at 1:30 p.m., and a copy of each participant's birth certificate is required to compete. Parents must be present to complete a liability waiver.

This is a free one-day event for boys and girls ages 7-14.

It is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball.

Participants compete in either the baseball division or softball division and have the opportunity to advance through four levels of competition, including locals, sectionals, team championships and the national finals at the MLB All-Star Game.

Each participant will compete in three different categories offered through the event.

Cal Ripken tourney to be held next month

A Cal Ripken baseball tournament will be held at the Union County Recreation Complex on Saturday, March 3.

The age groups will consist of 8U, 10U and 12U.

The entry fee is $225 with a three-game guarantee.
